Supported by an excess of 40 years' professional experience in music, Ms. Cubberley has served as the band director at Lamar Louise Curry Middle School since 2003. Additionally, she is a clarinetist for the Greater Miami Symphonic Band, a position she assumed in 1976, and the Klezmer Band, with which she became affiliated in 2002; she plays with both ensembles to this day.
Ms. Cubberley always knew that she wanted to pursue a degree in music. Upon her commencement from the University of Miami, she began her career as a music teacher for Homestead Junior High School in Homestead, Fla. After two years in that role, she took up the same position for Campbell Junior High School, and then went on to serve as a band director for Nautilus Junior High School and West Miami Middle School for 22 years. She retired from Lamar Louise Curry Middle School after 10 years and is now enjoying life in the Florida Keys.
An alumna of the University of Miami, Ms. Cubberley holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in music education. Her professional affiliations include the Dade County Music Educators Association, the Florida Bandmasters Association, and the Music Educators National Conference, which is now the National Association for Music Education. Notably, Ms. Cubberley has been recognized many times for her professional accomplishments. From 2004 to 2009, she was featured in four editions of Who's Who of American Women.
