Happiness and the Highly Sensitive Person Teleconference Class Begins June 14th

20% of the population is highly sensitive and another 22% moderately so. They notice subtleties others may miss, reflect more deeply on their experiences, and more fully consider options and outcomes.

The highly sensitive often notice details and see solutions others may overlook. Perhaps they have been criticized for being "too sensitive" and feel they don't quite fit in.

ASHEVILLE, NC, May 02, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Happiness and the Highly Sensitive Person, a five-week teleconference class, will meet Wednesdays, June 14th to July 12th from 7 - 8 pm ET. Instructor Celeste O'Brien identifies the highly sensitive person as having a keen awareness of others, their moods and feelings. In a culture that prizes an extroverted style and an aggressive approach, they may be undervalued.

Participants will gain a new perspective, realizing that their trait is genetic, inborn and normal. It is found in the same proportion in both men and women equally and in all nations and ethnic groups. Nature evidently intends that there be a mix of traits, with each having a role in good decision-making and effective action.

HSPs are empathetic, compassionate and conscientious. The HSP, O'Brien says, may have creativity or planning ability. According to two decades of research, the highly sensitive often notice details and see solutions others may overlook. Perhaps they have been criticized for being "too sensitive" and feel they don't quite fit in.

O'Brien has twenty years' experience teaching classes and workshops and has created a series of teleclasses for those who are high in sensory-processing sensitivity. She is a certified graduate of Dr. Martin Seligman's Authentic Happiness Coaching Program and MentorCoach's Foundations of Coaching.

Participants in the teleclass will be shown how to recognize and value the contributions only they can make, and to identify the situations and people that help them thrive. They will learn how to create reachable goals that are based on their dreams, values, and sensitive needs, and to strategize a schedule that leaves them energized, not drained.

The text for the course is THE HIGHLY SENSITIVE PERSON: HOW TO THRIVE WHEN THE WORLD OVERWHELMS YOU by Elaine Aron, Ph.D. She is the social psychologist and preeminent HSP researcher whose work first identified the trait in the mid1990s.
