Aging Investor Protection Summit focuses on Prevention of Financial Exploitation

This event is designed to show industry executives how to stay ahead of the legislative curve, how they can mitigate risk to their clients and firm along with how to offer the best investment options to their senior clients.

With exploitation at epidemic levels, the need to spot and report predatory activity targeted at senior citizens has never been greater, but knowing how is no easy task.

CHARLOTTE, NC, May 02, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Financial Research Associates, is happy to announce the Aging Investor Protection Summit (June 13-14, 2017 at The Harvard Club, Boston, MA). With exploitation at epidemic levels, the need to spot and report predatory activity targeted at senior citizens has never been greater, but knowing how is no easy task.

This event is designed to show industry executives how to stay ahead of the legislative curve, how they can mitigate risk to their clients and firm along with how to offer the best investment options to their senior clients, and the steps to protect this vulnerable group of investors.

Nearly 1 in 6 Americans will be 65 or older by 2020. This is concerning because 17% of senior citizens report financial abuse, with an average loss of $120,000, totaling to more than $3 billion in the U.S. every year, per the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; and, FINRA states that investors over 65 will account for more than 75% of financial assets in the U.S. over the next 10 years.

For one-and-a-half-days, a veteran faculty coupled with a uniquely crafted agenda will share critical insights into the safeguards needed to protect senior citizens and financial institutions. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Angela Gutchess, Brandeis University, during her presentation, will talk on the "Effects of Aging on Cognition and Emotion". The speaker line-up will also include executives from the SEC, The Alzheimer's Association and The National Adult Protective Services Association.

Also on the conference agenda are topics covering: Case studies examining the hazards of the current state of elderly financial exploitation; Guidelines for fiduciaries and which path they should take to protect their clients and firms; How to identify the "red flags" associated with predatory activity against those with diminished capacity; The Senior Safe Act and how financial services employees will be impacted and empowered; How to recognize cognitive decline in clients and which steps to take in order to preserve the interests of all involved; and Cutting edge technological solutions for identifying and preventing fraud.
