Daisy Howard-Douglas Celebrated by Marquis Who's Who for 35 Years of Practiced Industry Experience

Ms. Howard-Douglas now works as the founder, director and storyteller for Westmoreland County Storytellers, where she has been since 1998.

    SANDY POINT, VA, May 12, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Daisy Howard-Douglas has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After three and a half decades of invaluable contributions to her field, Ms. Howard-Douglas retired from the field of education in 1997. The same year she began teaching third grade at Sumpter Williams Elementary School, where she stayed for five years, she also earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Grambling State University. Upon leaving Sumpter Williams Elementary, she transferred to Callao Elementary School, where she worked as a fifth grade teacher for five years. Subsequently, she joined Eugene Meyer Elementary School as a fourth grade teacher, where she stayed from 1972 until 1976. At that point in time, she became a kindergarten teacher at Cople Elementary School - a position she held from 1976 until 1985. During her time in this position, she went back to school, attending Virginia Commonwealth University to obtain a Master of Arts in early childhood education. For the following two years, she remained with Cople Elementary in the role of second grade teacher. Before retiring in 1997, she became Fairfield Elementary School's fourth grade teacher for 10 years, during which time she earned a certificate in endorsement principal elementary and middle school from Virginia Commonwealth University.

A member of the National Education Association and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Ms. Howard-Douglas now works as the founder, director and storyteller for Westmoreland County Storytellers, where she has been since 1998. She also serves as an advanced board member of the Westmoreland School Systems, where she has served since 2004.

A shining example of skill in her field, Ms. Howard-Douglas has parlayed her extensive industry knowledge into an array of creative works, including "Daisy's Bayou Tales," "Africa - My Secret Dream," and "They Came From Virginia." Throughout her career, she has won a variety of awards for her work, including Teacher of the Year with Fairfield Elementary School, a Service Award from Alpha Kappa Alpha and the Oracle Award from the National Storytelling Network. Additionally, she has had the honor of being named to Marquis Who's Who publications such as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. Looking forward, Ms. Howard-Douglas intends to continue giving back, as well as working with the Westmoreland County Storytellers.
