LONDON, ENGLAND, May 23, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Only 12 men have ever walked on the Moon, giving them one of the most unique and profound experiences of all time. For the rest of us, we can only imagine what it was like to bounce along the lunar surface in 1/6th gravity, avoiding craters and admiring the small blue Earth in the black sky above.

Thanks to the new book, 'Apollo: The Panoramas' we can at least see the lunar surface as the Apollo Astronauts saw it, with over 50 stunning panoramic lunar images, each over a double page spread.

During the Apollo missions, the Astronauts were instructed to capture multiple 360 degree panoramas at each location they visited. This was achieved by standing in one spot, then turning slowly in a full circle, whilst firing the shutter on their chest mounted Hasselblad cameras. These individual frames were then printed and glued alongside each other to form a single panoramic image.

Fast forward to the modern day and with the advent of Photoshop, graphic designer and director of Space Memorabilia website, Moonpans.com - Mike Constantine was able to use individual high-resolution scans and combine them digitally to form high quality, seamless panoramic images that had a stunning new clarity and complied more than 50 of them into the book.

Each panorama has a detailed description by the author plus many also have exclusive comments from four of the Apollo Moonwalkers who were actually there. Alan Bean, Edgar Mitchell, Charlie Duke and Harrison Schmitt.

'Apollo: The Panoramas' is only available from http://moonpans.com/book.

The format is a hardcover coffee table book with 137 pages and measures 14 inches x 10.25 inches

Moonpans.com specialises in Space Memorabilia from the Apollo era, including Apollo Panoramic Prints, Apollo Astronaut Autographs and Artifacts flown and used on the Moon by the Apollo Astronauts.
