About David Singstock
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Singstock was a senior technical director of Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (Missile Defense Agency) at General Dynamics Information Technology, where he was involved with the design, development and installation of Ballistic Missile Defense Systems on Navy destroyers. In addition to several letters of commendation, Mr. Singstock received a Missile Defense Award from The National Defense Industrial Association, an award for being part of a team which shot down a dead National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) satellite. In addition, he also received the Department of Defense Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, and an Aegis Excellence Award from the Missile Defense Agency.
Mr. Singstock had an amazing 29 year career as a naval officer. He experienced many firsts; as being assigned to the Navy's first ocean going hydrofoil, and newest jet powered patrol gunboat. The gunboat was the first to arrive in Vietnam. In Vietnam, he encountered enemy action. One firefight in particular was the Battle of Saky where the gunboat tracked, intercepted, engaged and involved with the capture of the first North Vietnamese gun running trawler of the war. Other significant assignments included overhauling the Navy's Intermediate Maintenance Activities, both ashore and afloat, while on the staff of Chief of Naval Operations; designed, developed and implemented, and was designated Director, Fleet Modernization Program, for the Commander, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. When the USS Stark was severely damaged by an Iraqi missile attack, he was designated by the Commander of Naval Systems Command to take charge of the multi-million dollar restoration. In the final years of his naval career he was the technical director and senior naval advisor to the Royal Saudi Naval Forces and was a key player in both operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm of the Gulf War. During Desert Storm he was selected to represent the U.S. Navy as part of a Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) chartered U.S. Delegation to study the defense posture of Saudi Arabia (Joint Security Review Group). The group was headed by both U.S. and Saudi Flag officers. The purpose of the group was to travel throughout the battle grounds of Desert Storm with both U.S. and Saudi Arabian Armed Force Review Group members to identify, collect and deliver politically sensitive recommendations to improve combat readiness. The Commander of Saudi Arabian Armed Forces presented the entire Group a Certificate of Appreciation and Gratitude. During his naval career, Mr. Singstock was awarded various Unit Awards, Campaign and Service Medals, and personal decorations. Some are Meritorious Service Medal (3), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Marine Corp Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation.
In addition to his status as a Lifetime Achiever, Mr. Singstock received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition in commemoration of his courageous military service to the United States of America in the Vietnam War.
