"Don't dwell on the situation. Make it a priority to just find a rhythm, find a way to move forward. Taking time for yourself is going to be a new state of mind. You have to do a lot of mind shifting and a lot of, not only positive thinking, but putting yourself in the mindset where you can grow and come out a better person than you were before." - Michelle McDonald

In Michelle's new book, "Victory Cry: Living a Resilient Life After a Birth Trauma", you are taken through the emotional and breathtaking birth of her son and the life-threatening battle against an Amniotic Fluid Embolism and DIC that leads to her victory cry. Michelle breaks down the "3 R's to Recovery" that she experienced and leaves you full of hope, courage and armed with tools to move past your own trauma.

"Sometimes birth is a wonderful and miraculous thing. And sometimes it's very difficult. A big shout out to all those women who have given so much of their life, and have literally given all that they have to bring a new life into this world." - Steve Kidd, host of "Thriving Entrepreneur Radio Show. Michelle was born and raised on the island of Barbados, where she had an impactful and fascinating career as a regional account executive with American Airlines. In 2001, she moved to Canada to expand her world and career opportunities as well as work on her personal growth.

Expecting her first baby, Michelle dove into and absorbed all the knowledge she could about pregnancy, birth and health. Her excitement boiled over on August 1, 2014 when she went into labor with her son. Shortly after the epidural, everything changed as she felt an intense, piercing pain in her temples and she lost consciousness.

Twenty hours later, Michelle awoke in ICU with a trachea tube down her throat and she could not speak for three days. She learned she had suffered an amniotic fluid embolism and three emergency codes had to be called for her and her son during an emergency C-section. This was followed by severe hemorrhaging which required 30 units of blood and blood products. It took another four months of full recovery at home, now as a first-time mother of a newborn.

Michelle knew that God did not want her to remain silent about her harrowing birth experience. She is now a international bestselling author and motivational speaker, and an inspiration to others who are recovering from their own traumas. She also raises awareness for Amniotic Fluid Embolism, which occurs in 1 out of every 40,000 pregnancies and results in 40% of mothers and children losing their lives. A portion of the sales from her book will be donated to the AFE foundation to help with research.
