Leonard Allen Sylk Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Supported by more than 50 years of experience in the manufacturing and real estate development industries, Mr. Sylk currently serves as principal and chief executive officer of Property Management Services, a position he has held since 1996. He has also been a lecturer and instructor at Columbia Business School since 2008, and a member of the School's Advisory Board since 2006. Additionally, Mr. Sylk has been National Board Director of the National Association of Home Builders since 1984, and Board Director of the Wood Truss Council of America since 1983. He previously served as founder, chairman of the board, and CEO of Shelter Systems Corporation from 1965 to 1999.

Mr. Sylk has made it a point to be civically engaged for the last three decades. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania's Cancer Center since 2004, a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish National Fund since 1987, and Vice President of the Jewish National Fund since 2000. Back in 1987, he served as Chairman of the Fund's annual awards dinner. Mr. Sylk was a Trustee of Philadelphia's Roman Catholic High School from 2003-2010, Board Director of the Young Scholars Charter School from 2000-2006, a member of the Board of Directors of The Rock School for Dance Education from 1995-1998, and Chairman (1999) and a member of the Board of Directors and Vice Chairman (1995-2003) of St. Peter's School in Philadelphia. He also lent his expertise to St. Christopher's Foundation for Children as Chairman in 1999, Vice Chairman and Trustee for St. Christopher's Hospital for Children from 1994-2002, and Trustee of Allegheny University Hospitals from 1999-2005. Mr. Sylk also served as Board Director of Resources for Children's Health from 1993-1996, and a Trustee for Hahnemann University Hospital from 1991-1996.

His involvement with the Pennsylvania Ballet includes serving as Board Director (1994-1999), Vice-Chairman (1998) and Executive Committee Member (1996-1999). From 1990-1998, he held the positions of Vice President and Board Director (now Emeritus) of The Philadelphia Orchestra Association. Mr. Sylk was also Board Director of the Academy of Music in Philadelphia from 1990-1996. Lastly, he served as a member of the Philadelphia Council's Excellence in Education program in 2006, was New Jersey Chairman of Builders for Bush in 1988, and was Board Director of the Merion Civic Association from 1999-2001.

Mr. Sylk holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, earned in 1963 and an MBA from Columbia University, earned two years later. He is also a Certified Commercial Property Builder with ties to the National Association of Home Builders, having served as a member of the Executive Committee (1997, 1990), Fundraising Chairman (1991) and Committee Chairman; and the New Jersey Builders Association, also having served as a member of the Executive Committee (1990-1996). From 1984 to 1994, Mr. Sylk was Board Director of the Builders League of South Jersey. He also served as Vice President of the Builders League of South Jersey, and Board Director and Committee Chairman of the New Jersey Builders Association.

Over the years, Mr. Sylk has built an impressive reputation, and has been honored for his civic involvement and various accomplishments. In addition to receiving the Philadelphia Civic Leadership Award in 2011, he was recognized with the Leadership Award from Roman Catholic School Systems in 2006, named Man of the Year in Industrialized Housing by the National Association of Home Builders in 1990, named to the Wood Truss Council of America's Hall of Fame in 1990 (having served as President in 1987), and named Man of the Year in 1990. In both 2001 and 2002, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce named Mr. Sylk Man of the Year, and he and his family were presented with the Price of Peace - Water for Life tribute by Margaret Thatcher. Mr. Sylk has been featured in many volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the East.

Mr. Sylk is affiliated with Le Club in New York City, the Atlantic City Country Club, Vesper Club, The Union League Club, The Capitol Social Club in Washington, D.C., Masons, and the United Way Million Dollar Roundtable.

Leonard Sylk has been married to Barbara Ann Lovenduski since 1975. They have three children: Tristan, Tyler and Galen.
