Floyd Leroy English Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. English has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the telecommunications industry

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TX, June 23, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Floyd Leroy English a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mr. English celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. English is the chairman emeritus and distinguished former corporate executive officer of Andrew Corp., the multi-million dollar communications hardware manufacturer that supplies equipment to networks across the world. Under Mr. English's leadership in the '80s, the firm thrived and grew to acquire several notable companies, building everything from antennas to repeaters and transceivers, everything a world hungry for wireless communication demanded. His success might have never happened if not for Mr. English's decision to pursue his passion for physics as a young man bound for college.

Mr. English was born in Nicolaus, California, to Elvan L. and Louise E. English. He loved physics all through high school, and though he was awarded a full football scholarship to Stanford, it would mean giving up on the subject. Instead, Mr. English decided to attend California State University at Chico to pursue his love of physics. He was the first physics graduate at Chico in 1959, and served as captain in the U.S. Army Reserves while earning a master's degree and PhD in physics from Arizona State University.

In 1965, Mr. English graduated and went on to serve as a division supervisor at Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque, where he worked until 1973. He accepted a post as general manager of the integrated circuits division at Rockwell International-Collins, where he excelled until Darcom in Albuquerque offered him a post as president in 1975. He worked in energy management and acquisitions until 1981, when he became a vice president of U.S. operations at Andrew Corp in Illinois. Mr. English rose swiftly through the company, becoming CEO in a matter of two years. He led the company through a remarkable period of communications technology before accepting the role of chairman emeritus in 2004. Andrew Corp. invested heavily into satellite hardware and intellectual properties, and was acquired by telecommunications giant CommScope in 2007.

In response to the call of civic duty, Mr. English volunteers at his local church, and created the Floyd English Scholarship Fund for students at University of California, Chico. He is affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the International Engineering Consortium, and the Executive Club in Chicago. His contributions to professional journals have been noteworthy throughout the '90s and 2000s, and he was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, as well as Who's Who in the World. He has three children.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. English has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.

On May 25, 2017, Floyd English passed away due to heart failure while at home.
