Dr. Fukuta currently serves as an associate professor with Shizuoka University, and often works with the international community at conferences and in professional journal correspondence.
The Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan can claim Dr. Fukuta as a distinguished alumnus, having earned a bachelor's degree in engineering at the establishment in 1997 before earning a master's degree in 1999. Dr. Fukuta and his team demonstrated a multiagent support system as early as 2000 with the program BiddingBot, combining the functions of monitoring, attending, and bidding in multiple auctions. In 2002, Dr. Fukuta received a doctorate in engineering from the Nagoya Institute of Technology and accepted a position as a researcher with Shizuoka University in Hamamatsu. He began to teach as an assistant professor in 2007 and was made an associate professor in 2015. Dr. Fukuta has also served as a technology adviser to Wisdom Web Co. in Nagoya, Japan.
Dr. Fukuta has worked on many different aspects of computer science, contributing many chapters to books and professional papers. He was the co-editor of books in the "Studies in Computational Intelligence" series from Springer-Verlag. Dr. Fukuta's interest is primarily artificial intelligence, semantic web, and multiagent systems, which led him to serve as a program chair with the 2015 Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE)/ACIS International Conference on Information Systems as well as publicity chair of the 2016 IEEE International Conference on Agents (ICA2016). Dr. Fukuta has organized more than 10 technology workshops, including the 2017 International Workshop on Agent-Based Complex Automated Negotiations and the 2016 International Workshop on Platforms and Applications for Social Problem Solving and Collective Reasoning. He has also contributed to the 2017 International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems as well as the 2013 International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence.
Dr. Fukuta is affiliated with the Association for Computing Machinery, the IEEE Computer Society, the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, the Information Processing Society of Japan, the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, the Japan Society of Software Science and Technology, as well as the Information Systems Society of Japan. He has been recognized with the 2016 Best Paper Award at the ICA2016 and the 2012 IPSJ Research Award. In 2013, Dr. Fukuta was appointed chief examiner of the Intelligent Technology Group, served as an editorial committee member of the Journal of Information Processing, and contributed to several international and domestic journals. He was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and four volumes of Who's Who in Science and Engineering from 2006 to 2017.
