Irvin Lee McKlenshaw Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

As a civil rights advocate and a retired small business owner, Mr. McKlenshaw has utilized his many talents over 50 years of service in a staggering number of industries.

As a civil rights advocate and a retired small business owner, Mr. McKlenshaw has utilized his many talents over 50 years of service in a staggering number of industries. Over the course of his life he has contributed to technology, cinema, education, employment assistance, religious organizations, and LGBT groups, becoming an incredible figure in Orange County, California. In July, 2008, the Supreme Court of the State of California made a historic ruling on same sex marriage and Mr. McKlenshaw entered into civil marriage to James William Kershaw. As a result, his biography is listed under both "McClendon, Sr.," and "McKlenshaw" in various biographical volumes. The couple had five children as well as numerous grandchildren. James William McKlenshaw (nee James William Kershaw, Jr.) died suddenly and unexpectedly from complications of pneumonia on January 8, 2016.

Mr. McKlenshaw began life in Waco, Texas, and attended both El Camino College and the University of Southern California. From 1964 to 1970, he served with the U.S. Air Force Reserve, and was named National Merit Scholar from 1963 to 1967. From 1967 to 1970, he was employed as an engineering laboratory assistant and test data analyst for Rockwell International Corp., a sprawling industrial giant at the time. When he earned a BA in mathematics from California State University in 1970, he was also made a full member of the technical staff. Mr. McKlenshaw researched EMP technology during the Cold War in response to fears of nuclear attack.

After leaving Rockwell in 1982, Mr. McKlenshaw went on to work as a senior technical editor and writer at various firms, transitioning from a secondary role he already served as programmer at Auto-trol Tech. Corp. in Denver, Colorado. Notably, he worked as an engineering writer for CalComp, a subsidiary of Lockheed Co., in Hudson, New Hampshire. From 1997 to 1999, he was the owner of the Berkeley Group, LLC in Denver, serving as manager, writer and chief editor. This period was marked by his entrepreneurship and participation in the Denver community, notably the Denver County Republican Central Committee.

Mr. McKlenshaw went on to a post as an information processing technician from 1998 to 2002 at the County of Orange Health Care Agency in Santa Ana, California, also serving as a writer at the Am. Resume Center. In 2002, he became a tutor in English and mathematics at Fullerton Coll.'s Disability Support Services, and served as a copy editor for the Orange County and Long Beach Blade from 2003 to 2004. From 2006 to 2010, he served as a film crew associate for AMC 30 Theatres.

2004 also marked the launch of McClendon Professional Services, Mr. McKlenshaw's second foray into entrepreneurship, as well as marked enthusiasm for his community. In that year he joined the Men Alive Orange County Gay Men's Chorus, as well as Soulforce, a nonviolent civil rights advocacy group that he continues to support. Mr. McKlenshaw has served as a volunteer with the Community United Methodist Church in Huntington Beach, the David Bohnett Cyber Center, and as a trustee with the Church of God in Bloomington, California. Additionally, he has served as a leader at The Friendly Center, Inc, the Justice & Compassion Essential Ministry Team, and the Orange County Community of Reconciling United Methodists. Mr. McKlenshaw also found the time from 2010 to 2012 to conduct postgraduate work at California State University's school of business administration, the Summit School of Theology in Denver, and the Lay Ministry Academy at the Claremont School of Theology in California.

In 2013, Mr. McKlenshaw retired from small business and returned to the Health Care Agency in Orange County as an information technician, where he assists in adult and older adult behavorial health as well as the crisis stabilization unit. He has collected quite a few affiliations, notably with the California Association of Library Trustees and Commissioners, the National Eagle Scout Association, the Bible Sabbath Association, the California State U-Fullerton Alumni Association, the Orange County chapter of the Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, and the Reconciling Ministries Network. For his stellar achievements in Orange County and the service of civil rights, Mr. McKlensaw was selected for inclusion under both his names in numerous volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who in the World.
