Gerd Hermann Koch Named Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

About Gerd Hermann Koch
An esteemed figure in his industry with over 60 years of career experience, Mr. Koch currently is involved in art lectures - one a gallery talk at The Getty Museum's Rembrandt exhibition of Jesus and His Disciples; critiques, organizing and leading bus tours to special LA art exhibits, including one to the 50-year anniversary of Gemini Gel litho studio LA at LACMA with Jim Webb, a master printer in the 1960's and friend, discussing the prints he worked on designed by Jasper Johns, Josef Albers, and Rauschenberg (the first 6 foot litho ever created named Boost and they became friends). Webb was invited to the National Gallery and lectured at the reception of the first showing. Koch with partner Carole Milton organized and led 20 international art tours in Egypt and Berlin (just after the wall fell) and for the 100th anniversary of Van Gogh's death. Koch's image portrays "St. Nicholas," one of 135 10-foot-tall figures in the nave of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

1951: He received the David and Bathsheba Award at a movie competition, Detroit.

1951: He formed the Greenhouse Group of Artists, Detroit.

2011-2012: Gerd Koch and his partner Carole Milton awarded $12,000 to four professional artists in Ventura County ($3,000 each) by selling their paintings and through donations.

2015-2016: Gerd Koch and Carole Milton awarded travel grants (180,000 frequent flyer miles) to two artists and one wife to Paris and London (and $3,000 total cash). The husband was a wounded Marine.

2013: "Convergence" program organized by Koch's good friend and former student Donna Granata with her Focus on The Masters Organization using Koch's concepts as a base - "Meet the Artist" Koch program at Ventura College and 1955 Koch projecting parts of his paintings on modern dancers in a theater. Donna projected whole paintings by Koch on ballet dancers and photographed the images and had a live program for an audience.

In addition to his status as Lifetime Achiever, Mr. Koch has previously received the First Purchase Award from the 1959 Annual Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Morrison Medal from the Oakland Art Museum, and Purchase Awards from both the California State Fair and the National Water Color Society. Mr. Koch has also received two special certificates in recognition of his art and activities from the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, the Mayor's Award for Artist in the City, and was honored with the Gerd Koch Gallery namesake at the Studio Channel Islands Art Center. Furthermore, Mr. Koch has been a featured listee in Who's Who in American Art, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World.

Image 2: 80th Birthday Retrospective catalog cover is the painting "Spring Garden with Sun Wet Path." It received IST Award and Purchase Award at LACMA Annual in 1959 (Entries Santa Barbara - San Diego Exhibit Studio Channel Islands, 2009). SCI 20th Anniversary, 2018 (over 12 months), co-founded by Koch/Director by Peter Tyas, recently director of England's "Stonehenge Research Program" of more complex ancient history. Koch will have an exhibit with 13 former students "Then and Now" in 2018 (Sept-Oct). Designed by Gretel Compton.
