Former NABA President & CEO Appointed to DC Board of Accountancy

Former NABA President & CEO, Angela L. Avant, CPA, appointed to the District of Columbia Board of Accountancy.



    GREENBELT, MD, August 02, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Angela L. Avant, CPA, was recently appointed to the District of Columbia Board of Accountancy, effective as of June 17, 2017. The Board consists of five members appointed by the Mayor Muriel Bowser. In her role, Ms. Avant will regulate licenses of professional accountants and protect consumers by upholding the District of Columbia accountancy license law.

I believe in those words and have lived them through service to many organizations, namely the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA). My appointment represents an opportunity to bring my knowledge, experiences and passion for my profession to serve current, prospective and future members and the communities we serve, while also focusing on diversity and inclusion," said Avant at her swearing in ceremony on July 24, 2017.

Ms. Avant is currently the President and CEO of Enterprise Advisory Solutions. She has a unique background as a leader of two of the accounting professional's top organizations. In 2013, Avant was appointed as the first President & CEO of NABA and prior to this she was a partner at KPMG, LLP.

She has an extensive history of involvement with a number of professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Virginia and Greater Washington Societies of CPAs, the AICPA National Commission on Diversity & Inclusion, the Finance Committee of Trinity University of Washington, the Howard University Center for Accounting Education Advisory Board, and the Corporate Advisory Board of the Association for Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting Association.
