Dr. Abidi has dedicated 55 years of his professional life to neurology, and currently sees patients from his private practice in Maple Shade. He has served as an attending neurologist and chief of the neurology section for a staggering amount of hospitals in the New Jersey area, and was sent as the New Jersey delegate to the American Medical Association in 2000. Dr. Abidi is licensed for practice in India, Great Britain, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, and has published papers on the depression medication Deprol as well as studies on outpatient populations.

Born in Lucknow, India to S. Maqbool and Afsar Begum Abidi in 1940, Dr. Abidi attended King George's Medical College to earn an MD in 1962, followed by a rotating internship and medical residency at the institution. He arrived in the U.S. in 1965 as an internal medicine resident with Huron Road Hospital in Cleveland, followed with a psychiatry residency at Philadelphia General Hospital and a neurology residency at the nearby Temple University Hospital. Dr. Abidi was licensed to practice in Great Britain by the General Medical Council in London in 1969 and opened his private practice four years later with the Regional Neurological Group. In 1978, he moved on to Neurological Regional Associates, where he continues to practice neurology.

Over a productive neurology career, Dr. Abidi has served with an incredible list of prestigious hospitals, including the Cooper Medical Center, the Pennsylvania Hospital, the Garden State Community Hospital, Underwood Memorial Hospital, Burlington Country Memorial Hospital, South Ocean County Hospital, Hampton Hospital, the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital and University Medical Center, the Zurbrugg Memorial Hospital, as well as the West Jersey Hospital. He served on the Board of Penn NeuroVare at the University of Pennsylvania (2001-2014) and was named Trustee of West Jersey Health Systems from 1992 to 2000.

In 2005, Dr. Abidi was asked to meet with Governor Richard Codey regarding the stem cell program at Kessler Rehabilitation in West Orange, New Jersey. Later that month, he met with former Congressman Bob Franks at the Healthcare Institute of New Jersey in Hillside, New Jersey.

As an Indian American neurologist of numerous accomplishments, Dr. Abidi was presented with a 2005 Professional Excellence Award by the Council of Indian Organizations of Greater Philadelphia. He is a fellow with the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Neurology, and the Royal Society of Great Britain, as well as a member with the American Medical Association, the New Jersey Hospital Association, the Philadelphia Neurological Society, the Academy of Medicine of New Jersey, the Burlington County Medical Society, the Medical Society of New Jersey, and the American Electroencephalography Society. He was the 212th President of the Medical Society of New Jersey.
Dr. Abidi was welcomed for inclusion in five volumes of Who's Who in America, and two volumes for Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare from 1997 to 2001. He has two children: Nicholas and Zeena.
