Joe Luther Driver Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

    GARLAND, TX, August 18, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Joe Luther Driver a Lifetime Achiever. From 1993 to 2013, Mr. Driver represented District 113th of the Texas House of Representatives. He served on the House committees on Homeland Security and Public Safety from 2011 to 2013, the Appropriations committee from 2009-2011, and the Environmental Regulations committee from 2005 to 2009. Mr. Driver also served as a chairman of the Law Enforcement committee from 2003 to 2009, and vice chairman of the Appropriations subcommittee on Criminal Justice from 2009 to 2011. From 1999 to 2003 Mr. Driver was appointed chairman of the Constitutional Revision Select Committee. He was an active member of the Texas Conservative Coalition and the republican caucus in Texas House of Representatives from 1993 to 2013.

His success extends beyond his service as a state representative; for more than 40 years, he was the owner of Joe Driver Insurance-State Farm Agency. Previously, he served as a manager of Marshall Driver Insurance as well as an instructor in the Garland Texas Independent School District.

Mr. Driver has served his community in many capacities beyond his professional career in politics. He acted as a member of the board of directors of the First United Methodist Church from 1979 to 1981, the Garland Economic and Development Authority in 1986, the American Heart Association from 1991 to 1993, and the Garland Crime Stoppers from 1985 to 1988 and from 1993 to 2013; he was also a member of the board of management of the Garland YMCA in 1992. Mr. Driver served New Beginning Family and Violence Prevention Center as a member of the board of directors from 1988 to 1991 and vice president from 1990 to 1991. He was also chairman of the SITE Foundation of Garland, president of Christian Singles Unlimited, and a member of the development council of the Baylor Medical Center for 15 years.

Mr. Driver served the City of Garland as a member of the Long-Range Planning committee and the Downtown Citizen Review committee.

Mr. Driver served as an active member of multiple organizations. He was on the board and served as chairman of the Garland Chamber of Commerce. For his exceptional work as a member of the board of directors and president of the Noon Exchange Club of Garland, he was commended with the Outstanding Service Award. He was also on the board of directors of the Leadership Garland Alumni Association and the University of North Texas Alumni Association from 2001 to 2005. The National Association of Life Underwriters has honored Mr. Driver with the National Quality Award from 1978 to 1983, 1986 to 1992, and 2002 for his outstanding service to the organization.

Mr. Driver was commended with the Outstanding District Director Award in 1985 and the President's Award in 1986 by the Texas District Exchange Clubs. He also won the 2007 and 2010 North Texas Crime Commission's Legislator of the Year Award and the Human Relations Award by the Dale Carnegie Cos. Mr. Driver has also been featured in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Politics, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.

Mr. Driver is the son of Marshall and Alice Elizabeth Driver. He has been married to DeAnne Browning for more than 20 years. He is the stepfather of Eric Browning and Lynsey Browning Peskuski. In his spare time, he enjoys fitness training, Pilates, yoga and tennis.
