William Miller Drennen Jr. Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

    SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV, August 25, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name William Miller Drennen Jr. a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mr. Drennen Jr. celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A former cultural organization administrator, film producer, writer, and entrepreneur, Mr. Drennen has enjoyed a wonderful career working for several great companies, including as a vice president for Communication Corps., Inc., president of Briar Mountain Coal and Coke Company, as founder and president of Max Media, Inc., and as commissioner of the West Virginia Culture and History Division. In the late 1960s, Mr. Drennen had dabbled in freelance writing and filmmaking, only to get back into the arts and entertainment industry years later in 2001 as a writer, producer, and consultant.

Extremely invested in his community, Mr. Drennen spent time as founder and president of the West Virginia Youth Soccer Association, served on the board of directors for the Sunrise Museum and on the renaissance committee in Charleston. Mr. Drennen has also served as founder of the West Virginia Association of Museums, Inc., a member of the Pare Lorentz Award Panel for the International Documentary Association, and trustee for the University of Charleston. He is also the former president and founder of the West Virginia International Film Festival. For 2001 to 2002, he was an instructor in the history department at Shepherd University.

Impressively, Mr. Drennen has been the acting managing general partner for C&D Enterprises for close to 40 years whilst balancing the responsibilities of his affiliations. In 2003, he became an entrepreneur as the owner, secretary, and licensed agent for Greg Didden Associates, a real estate office located in the heart of Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

Mr. Drennen is the author of "The Saga of Salt Stories of Jesse Cox"; "One Kanawha Valley Bank"; and "Red, White, Black, and Blue: A Dual Memoir of Race and Class in Appalachia". He also assisted his mother in writing "Margaret Drennen: Her Life and Times". A cameraman for a 1970's film, "Evolving Environment", which won a Cine Golden Eagle Award, he was also the editor of a second film, "River of Life", which won a U.S. Film Festival Award.

A Decorated Bronze Star Recipient who served in the US Navy from 1964 to 1967, Mr. Drennen also earned two Cine Eagle Awards and a Certificate of Excellence for Documentary Film Work, as well as several other awards over the past 20 years. Additionally, Mr. Drennen is a patentee of a computerized optical system. Included in more than 20 editions of Who's Who in America, close to 20 editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, as well as several editions of Who's Who in Arts and Entertainment, he remains active as a member of the Organization of American Historians, the American Historical Association, the West Virginia Historical Society, the Shepherdstown Rotary, and the Club at Cress Creek. He is also a member and former president of the West Virginia Filmmakers Guild, and former president and current board member of the Jefferson County Historical Society.

Mr. Drennen holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Yale University before completing postgraduate work at George Washington University, the University of Charleston, and West Virginia Graduate College. Years later, he also earned a Master of Arts in Humanities at West Virginia Graduate College. The father of two and grandfather of three, Mr. Drennen lost his loving wife, Sarah, in 2014.
