Edward James Kollar Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Edward J. Kollar has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the biology education industry

With nearly 50 years in teaching, research, and administrative duties, Dr. Kollar currently excels as professor emeritus with the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. In the early 1960s he started in the field of developmental biology as an instructor and research associate at the University of Chicago. For eight years, he worked in a variety of capacities as assistant professor of biology and anatomy. In 1972, he joined the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine as associate professor. His duties there included teaching, research, and various administrative roles such as department head, committee chairman, and program director of the Dental Scientist Graduate Program. He ended his tenure as associate dean of student affairs. The University of Connecticut awarded him professor emeritus status in retirement.

As a graduate of the University of Scranton, Dr. Kollar received a B.S., cum laude, and earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at Syracuse University. During his research activity he was joined by a number of Master of Dental Science and Ph.D. candidates. He has published the results of his investigations in a variety of peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Kollar was also editor-in-chief of the Archives of Oral Biology from 1978 to 1987 in the U.S. He has served on the ADA Joint Commission for Dental School Accreditation and contributed to two successful accreditation reviews at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Kollar was awarded the Quantrell Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching by the University of Chicago in 1968. He has received the 1981 Outstanding Research in Anatomical Science Award in the Cranial Biology Section from the International Association of Dental Research and the 1986 Medal of Paris in bronze for his contributions to dental science. In 2000, the University of Scranton awarded him the Distinguished Alumni Award for Achievements in Science and Technology. Dr. Kollar has been featured in many volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
