Jiromaru Tsujino Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Dedication in Engineering

Dr. Tsujino celebrates many years as a professor at Kanagawa University and expert in ultrasonic technology

Since 2008, Dr. Tsujino has held the esteemed title of professor emeritus with Kanagawa University, where he taught electrical engineering for 40 years.

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN, September 08, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jiromaru Tsujino has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Since 2008, Dr. Tsujino has held the esteemed title of professor emeritus with Kanagawa University, where he taught electrical engineering for 40 years. He is renowned for the continued development of ultrasonic welding technology, commonly used for plastics or for joining dissimilar materials. Dr. Tsujino continues to publish on the applications of the technology with lithium ion batteries and the development of impact reduction devices.

Born in Changchun, People's Republic of China, in 1937 to Hiroshi and Umeko Tsujino, Dr. Tsujino attended the Tokyo Institute of Technology and earned a DEng in 1967. He joined Kanagawa University fresh out of graduate school and served as chair of the electrical engineering department from 1986 to 1993. Dr. Tsujino went on to serve as dean of the graduate school of engineering from 1993 to 2002, and in 2008, he accepted the venerable role of professor emeritus.

Over the course of a lifetime of research, Dr. Tsujino has advanced ultrasonic technology to a sophisticated complexity, increasing the power, precision, and cleanliness of the welds. Once considered for automobile production, the technology now finds a second heyday in the manufacture of microscale electronics. The technique is preferable to traditional welding for its high degree of control, as well as the much lower degree of heat that is generated. Ultrasonic welding has also proven to be highly compatible with automated systems, producing reliable results and efficient manufacturing.

Dr. Tsujino is the author of "Applications of High Power Ultrasonics" and numerous industry articles. He is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the Institute of Electronic, Information and Communications Engineers, as well as a member of the Acoustical Society of Japan, the Japan Society of Tech Plasticity, the Japan Welding Society, and the Ultrasonic Industry Association. Additionally, he has served as a leader of the Symposium of Ultrasonic Electronics, Asahi EMS Company, and the Japanese committee of the International Electrotechnology Commission on Ultrasonics.

For invaluable contributions to engineering, Dr. Tsujino was selected for inclusion in eight volumes of Who's Who in the World and two volumes of Who's Who in Asia in 2012 and 2007. He is the husband of Ruriko Matsuda and the father of two sons, Soichiro and Kenjiro.
