Roberta C. Gibson Pevear Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

    EXETER, NH, September 15, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Roberta Gibson Pevear a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Ms. Pevear celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. Pevear is a retired State Legislator who served with the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 1979 to 1988, representing Hampton Falls, and Hampton, N.H., on the Environment and Agriculture Committee, and serving as the Clerk of Committee. She is very proud of her instrumental role in crafting an evacuation plan for the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant, the only such facility in the State.

Ms. Pevear was featured in May, 2017, issue of American Legion Auxiliary Magazine, and has co-edited a 500-page Civil War true story titled "Write Quick: War and a Woman's Life in Letters, 1835-1867", presently in development as a film, to be called "Heartache: A Woman and the Civil War". It is in the State House Library, and DAR Library, Washington D.C.

Born in Bethel, Maine, to Frank Albert, Sr., and Thirza Hickford Gibson, Ms. Pevear attended Gould Academy to study Commercial Art and joined Wilner Wood Products as Secretary to Owner in South Paris, Maine, in the late '40s. She went on to serve as Export Secretary of Whitaker Cable, and District Secretary of Anheuser-Busch, in Kansas City, Missouri, and in 1960 she became a legal secretary with an Officer of Johnson & Johnson, in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Ms. Pevear went on to the Law Firm of St. John, Ronder and Bell, in Kingston, New York, as Secretary to Mr. St. John, continuing her familiarity with legal affairs. In 1967, she joined Sears-Roebuck and Co., in Administration in Overland Park, Kansas, and in Exeter, N.H.

While serving in the N.H. Legislature, Ms. Pevear was Sales Agent of Avon Products in Hampton Falls, N.H.

Ms. Pevear represented Hampton Falls, N.H., as a Commissioner of the Rockingham Planning Commission from 1979 to 1988, and Commissioner of the N.H. Planning Commission from 1985 to 1988.

She served on the Rockingham County Executive Committee, and as Chairman of the Rockingham County Home Committee. She served as Civil Defense Director for Hampton Falls from 1980 to 1988.

Ms. Pevear is a member of Exeter Chapter of DAR, Chairman of Veterans Committee, where she sponsors Liberty House, Manchester, N.H., a transitional home for homeless veterans. She served four years as Regent of Ranger Chapter, DAR, Portsmouth, N.H.

Additionally, Ms. Pevear was affiliated with the National Order of Women Legislators, and the N.H. Order of Women Legislators, and currently with the Exeter Sportsman's Club, having served on its Board of Directors for 3 years, and the National Association of Professional Women, which presented her a 2013 Woman of the Year Award. Ms. Pevear is the recipient of a 1982 Community Citizen Award from Hampton Falls Grange, a 1985 Seacoast Retired Senior Service Award, and a 2014 Inspirational Woman of the Year Award from Women's Radio Network.

Ms. Pevear was selected for inclusion in numerous Volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Politics, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.

Ms. Pevear married Edward Gordon Pevear in 1971, who served in Europe in World War II under General Patton, and retired as Supervisor of Shipfitters of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine, in 1978, after 37 years of Government Service.
