    MONTREAL, QC, September 29, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nitika Pant Pai has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Nitika Pant Pai (Nikki Pai), MD, MPH, PhD, is a tenured Associate Professor at McGill University in the Department of Medicine, Division of Clinical Epidemiology and a Research Scientist at the MUHC Research Institute. She is a medical doctor with a doctorate in epidemiology from the University of California, Berkeley and a post-doctoral fellowship at McGill University.

She has 20 years of experience in implementation research in HIV and related co-infections (i.e., Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, syphilis, etc); in particular, with rapid point-of-care tests, self-tests, and multiplexed tests. She has led studies in marginalized populations in the US, Canada, India and South Africa. Her research vision is to develop innovative, robust, screening/treatment strategies, conduct sound implementation research, and inform global and domestic policies on testing strategies. Her research work has been supported by grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Fonds de Recherche du Quebec (Sante), Grand Challenges Canada, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the NIH, among others.

Throughout her career, she has advised global agencies, and served on many technical working groups of key global organizations in the diagnostic space. She is also on the Editorial Board of several biomedical journals, and regularly contributes to grant reviews and peer reviews.

In the past 6 years, she has actively focused on developing innovations to expedite screening of infections. She has also founded a social enterprise, Sympact-X, to take these innovations to scale globally.

She is a recipient of numerous awards: CIHR New Investigator Award (2010), FRQS Chercheurs-boursiers (2015), Grand Challenges Canada's Stars in Global Health Awards (2011, 2013) GCC Transition to Scale Award (2015), Research Excellence Awards from McMaster and McGill University (2012, 2013), and Innovation Accelerating Science in Progress Award (ASAP) from Google, PLOS and Wellcome Trust (2013).

In the coming years, Dr. Pant Pai intends to experience continued excellence in her research.
