Drawing upon more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Hung is a widely regarded cardiologist and professor of medicine. He recently accepted the role of vice superintendent with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, where he previously served as the chief of the department of internal medicine, section of cardiology, department of medical education, and research program review and evaluation committee. Since 1997, Dr. Hung has also assisted as an attending cardiologist with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. He maintains involvement with a wide range of professional organizations, including the China Medical Association, Taiwan Society of Internal Medicine, Formosan Medical Association, Taiwan Society of Lipids & Atherosclerosis, Taiwanese Association of Medical Education and American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Hung is noted for his accomplishments in the areas of medical research, with a specific focus on eNOS regulations that govern vascular function, especially in the dynamic coronary stenosis. His most recent research includes studying the Rho/Rho kinase (ROCK) activity in patients with coronary spasm, which led to his laboratory becoming the first catheterization laboratory to study ROCK activity in coronary spasm patients in Taiwan. Dr. Hung is also interested in coronary flow reserve using echocardiography, and studying the left ventricular and left atrial changes using echocardiography in a longitudinal study for patients with chronic kidney disease.

At the present moment, Dr. Hung's ongoing projects include the investigation of mechanisms by which inflammation mediators decrease NO bioavailability in vascular cells, including endothelial cells, monocytes and vascular smooth cells, as well as investigation of coronary flow reserve, left atrial structural and functional remodeling by transthoracic echocardiography in patients with predialysis chronic kidney disease. His research efforts are supported by research grants provided by various hospitals and national science councils.

A respected authority in the field of cardiology, Dr. Hung has served as a senior instructor with the Taiwan Society of Cardiology, Taiwan Society of Echocardiography, Taiwan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Taiwan Society of Critical Care Medicine. He has achieved fellowship with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, as well as the European Society of Cardiology. Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Hung has contributed more than 130 articles to journals pertaining to his areas of expertise, in addition to delivering more than 70 presentations to the scientific community. Dr. Hung has served as an ad hoc reviewer for a wide variety of scientific journals, including Cardiovascular Therapeutics, Medicine, Heart and Vessels, International Cardiovascular Forum Journal and Case Reports in Cardiology.

Dr. Hung began a medical career upon graduating from Chung Shan Medical University College of Medicine in 1990. During the next two years, he served as a lieutenant general physician in the Republic of China Navy. Between 1992 and 1997, Dr. Hung completed a residency in internal medicine and cardiology fellowship in adult cardiology with the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. He began serving the hospital as an attending cardiologist in 1997, and is now recognized as the vice superintendant.

Since 2002, Dr. Hung has held a variety of academic appointments, including as an assistant professor of medicine and associate professor of medicine with the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Chang Gung University College of Medicine. For more than three years, he has been recognized as a professor of medicine with the university.

Board certified through the Taiwan Medical Association, Society of Internal Medicine of Taiwan and Taiwan Society of Cardiology, Dr. Hung has received licensure in the subspecialties of cardiology, coronary intervention and echocardiography. He has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in Asia, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World. Most recently, Dr. Hung was selected by Chang Gung Memorial Hospital as the recipient of the Award for the Highest Impact Factor of a Single Publication in 2015 and Award for the Largest Number of the First Author Publications in 2016. He was previously commended for Excellence in Medical Student Teaching.
