With more than 15 years of professional excellence in his field, Dr. Aguilar Schall recently started as the manager of biostatistics for Gilead Sciences, a research-based biopharmaceutical company with a portfolio of medical treatments for HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, cancer, inflammatory and respiratory diseases, and cardiovascular conditions. Before he obtained his current role, he worked for Gilead as a biostatistician contractor, a biostatistician level two, and a senior biostatistician. At the start of his career, he served in varying roles with Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico, and the University of California Berkeley, two of his alma maters.
A graduate of Golden Gate University as well, Dr. Aguilar Schall holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics, a Master's degree in Biostatistics, a PhD in Biostatistics, and an MBA.
Throughout his career, he has contributed his knowledge to several scientific articles. Out of them, he feels particularly proud of the article "Regression of cirrhosis during treatment with tenofovir disoproxi fimarate for chornic hepatitis B: a 5-year open-label follow-up study." This article helped shift the paradigm that assumed cirrhosis of the liver to be final state and demonstrates it is reversible. Looking ahead, Dr. Aguilar Schall intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
