Dr. Ko is a physician and professor of urology. Born in Masan, South Korea, he is an alumnus of the College of Medicine at Korea University, where he earned an MD in 1999 and a terminal doctorate in 2008. He has worked for Yeungnam University School of Medicine since 2012, after 5 years of clinical assistant professorship at Korea University Anam Medical Center. In 2011, Dr. Ko visited to the Florida Hospital Celebration Health as a clinical research fellow with Dr. Vipul R. Patel. In June of that year, he visited to Kobe University as a researcher with Dr. Fujisawa Masato. Most recently, he served as a researcher with Dr. Thomas Ahlering of the Department of Urology at the University of California, Irvine, in 2017.
Dr. Ko is a member of the Korean Urological Association, the American Urological Association, and the Society of Robotic Surgery. He is a two-time winner of the Roche-Cancer Academic Award from the Korean Cancer Association in 2009 and 2010, as well as a 2009 Best Presentation Award Winner of the Korean Endourological Society, a 2012 winner of the Korean Urological Oncologic Society, a 2014 winner of the Korean Society of Sexual Medicine and Andrology, and of the Korean Society of Urological Ultrasonography in 2014. Dr. Ko is married, with a daughter and a son.
