Father John Edward Mulvihill Celebrates Over 50 Years of Professional Excellence in Church Law

Over the last 50 years, Dr. John Edward Mulvihill, Baron of Roscommon, Hundred Lord of Blackbourn and Lord of Abbas Hall, has dedicated his life to God through a number of pastoral and judicial positions in the Midwest. Since the mid-2000s, he has served as a judge for the Interdiocesan Appellate Tribunal in Milwaukee, and as an adjutant judicial vicar for the Interdiocesan Appellate Tribunal in Chicago. Earlier in his career, he dedicated himself to the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Metropolitan Tribunal, and St. John Bosco Parish. An ordained priest, Dr. Mulvihill has lent his expertise in the field to the Graduate Theological Foundation as the Gratian Chair Professor of Church Law, to the Pastoral Institute of St. Xavier University in Chicago, to the Institute of Spirituality in River Forest, to clinical pastoral education at St. Joseph Hospital, and to the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

A graduate of numerous prestigious universities, including the Gregorian University in Rome, the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology, and the San Francisco Theological Seminary, Dr. Mulvihill holds a Master of Philosophy, a Diploma in Etruscology and Italic Antiquities, a Diploma in Christian Archaeology, a Doctor of Ministry, a Doctor of Education, a Doctor of Sacred Theology, a PhD in Philosophy of Evolution, and a Doctor of Divinity. His studies have taken him all over the world, allowing him to learn French, Spanish, Italian and German, with training and studies in Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Umbrian, Etruscan, Czech, Hindi, Hawaiian, and Swahili. A decorated knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Dr. Mulvihill affiliates himself with such religious organizations as the Catholic Theological Society of America, the American Academy of Religion, the Canon Law Society of America, and the American Catholic Philosophical Association.

Throughout his note-worthy and long-standing career, Dr. Mulvihill has authored such creative works as "Ministerial Priest," "Second Nuptials: Catholic Pastoral Care," "Liberty as Genius Loci," "Natural Philosophy as Genius Loci," and "Place of Promise: Genius Loci of Israel." In addition to being recognized as a decorated knight, Father Mulvihill earned the honor of the Cross of the Holy Land through the Papal Custos in 1965, and has also been named to the 26th volume of Who's Who in the Midwest, and the 4th volume of Who's Who in Religion.
