For more than 10 years, Dr. Ko has excelled in the field of electronic packaging engineering such as Pb-free solders and 3D packaging. Currently, he serves as a senior and principal researcher with the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH). Previously, he worked as an engineer and senior engineer for the Module Development Project in the Memory Division of the Samsung Electronics Company. Over the years, he has obtained patents for a memory module having star-type topology and a method of fabricating the same, as well as an airbag sensor module and lead-free solder bumps.
A graduate of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Hanyang University, Dr. Ko holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Hanyang University, a Master of Science in Material Science and Engineering form KAIST, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from KAIST. Notably, he has been recognized many times for his work in the field. From 2013 until 2016, he has won Outstanding Presentation Prizes for various studies on interfacial properties of Pb-free solder joint and micro-bump joint through the Korean Microelectronics and Packaging Society and the Korean Welding and Joining Society. Recently, he has also studied transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding for power electronics module packaging. Looking ahead, Dr. Ko intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
