Survey results uncover favorite treats, costumes and advice for parents

The survey also showed that princesses are not popular with toddler girls, with a Princess Fanatic score of only 28.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 26, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gymboree Play & Music, a global leader in play classes for children aged newborn to five years old, today announced its Ultimate Guide To Toddler Halloween based on the company's annual survey of parents with toddlers.

Gymboree Play & Music compiled survey results from 537 parents of toddlers ages one to four. Of those surveyed, 94 percent were parents of toddlers ages one to two. Parents were asked about their Halloween traditions and child's preferences when it comes to costumes, candy and trick-or-treating.

The survey revealed an all-around enthusiasm for Halloween from parents and children alike, with 88 percent hitting the streets to trick-or-treat, 83 percent planning a trip to the pumpkin patch, and 99 percent of survey participants dressing up their little ones in costumes. The majority prefers to trick-or-treat in their own neighborhood with just their parents, and 27 percent love to dress up as animals.

Surprisingly, 77 percent of toddlers are not afraid of the dark, with a Halloween Scare Factor of 51 on a scale of 1 to 100. The survey also showed that princesses are not popular with toddler girls, with a Princess Fanatic score of only 28. Only one percent of toddlers say yes to sour candy, while 31 percent prefer fruit and another 31 percent gobbling down on chocolate this year.

Designed for both education and play, Gymboree Play & Music programs are recognized for their unique approach to parent involvement and child development. The company combined its developmental expertise and with tips and tricks from surveyed parents to create the Ultimate Guide To Toddler Halloween. Here are the top 10 tips for parents:

3) Get out early, and stop when your child wants to stop.
4) Let your children choose their own costume.
5) A little candy is ok; bring along healthy options.
6) Get some rest beforehand to avoid a meltdown for both you and your toddler.
7) Stay in a group, and be aware of your surroundings.
8) Pace yourself and don't over plan.
9) Enjoy all of Halloween: dressing up, carving pumpkins and making treats.
10) Keep calm and have fun!
