Edwin John Bloom, Jr. Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    AYER, MA, November 02, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Edwin John Bloom, Jr. with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Bloom celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Now retired, Mr. Bloom most recently served as president of Employee Relations Associates Inc. in Concord, Massachusetts from 1979 to 1998. Previous to that Lowe-Standing position, he was vice president of personnel of the Lechmere Division of the Dayton Hudson Corporation from 1973 to 1977. He also served previously as the director of employee relations at the Ravland division of the Zenith Radio Corporation in Chicago, as well as manager of labor relations and manager of industrial relations at the consumers electronics division of the Philco-Ford Corporation in Philadelphia.

Mr. Bloom began his career as a college relations representative and subsequently supervisor of employment and employee services at the Ansco Division of the General Aniline and Film Corporation in Binghampton, New York. Outside his career in human resources, Mr. Bloom has served as a member of the board of directors, president, and treasurer of the Ansco Federal Union in Binghampton, and from 1980 to 2006 as a corporator of the Middlesex Savings Bank in Massachusetts. He also served in academia as an instructor at the Bunker Hill Community Colleges in Boston from 1977 to 1997, and assistant professor at Laskil Junior College in Newton, Massachusetts from 1977 to 1986. Mr. Bloom also has experience as a volunteer consultant for the Federal Small Business Administration as a participant in the Active Corps of Executives (ACE) Program.

Mr. Bloom has served his community as a corporator of the Museum of Transportation form 1984 to 1986, and as a volunteer at the Indian Hill Music Center since 2008. He served as a member of the board of directors and president of the board of the Ayer Council on Aging from 2000 to 2003 and as a volunteer from 2008 to 2011.

Mr. Bloom is also a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a sergeant in heavy field artillery from 1951 to 1954. He is now committed to working for veterans' causes, and has been a member of the American Legion for 34 years. He currently serves as a chaplain for Ayer Post 139. Post members participate in Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs at the local schools, speaking to students in class, placing flags on veterans' graves in local cemeteries, organizing and conducting the town's Memorial Day parade, and providing gifts and refreshments for veterans at the local VA hospital at Christmas.

Over all of Mr. Bloom's accomplishments, he is most proud of his loving family. His late wife Mary always supported his work while caring for their four children, including his mentally and hearing disabled son. Mr. Bloon has provided advocacy and support for the development and implementation of community-based services for those with mental disabilities. From 1974 to 2013, he served in various capacities with the Minute Man Association for Human Services. He was a member of the board of the directors, president of the board of directors, and chairman or member of various committees. Also, he served as a member of the board of directors and president of the board of directors of the Elliot Community Mental Health Center from 1979 to 1983, a member of the area board of Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation from 1975 to 1979, as well as from 1982 to 1988. He was a member of the citizens advisory board for the Middlesex area from 1989 to 2003, served as a member of the Regional Training Council from 1993 to 1996, and was on the Citizens Monitoring Team from 1993 to 1995.

Mr. Bloom was a member of the Industrial Relations Research Association and the Massachusetts Business Men's Association. He was also a chartered consultant and accredited professional consultant of the American Consultant League. He was awarded with the Certificate of Merit by United Way in 1974, a Merit Certificate by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health in 1978, a Recognition Plaque by Eliot Community Mental Health Center in 1981, and a Leadership Award by United Way Acton in 1993. He was also the recipient of citations and commendation from the Massachusetts State Senate and the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1995 in recognition of his commitment and accomplishments for the mentally disabled. He has been featured in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the East.
