Diana Suttenfield Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Suttenfield has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the art industry

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV, November 06, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Diana Suttenfield with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Suttenfield celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Painting with oils and acrylics, as well as pastels, for the past 25 years, Ms. Suttenfield says that the best way she is able to communicate with others is through her artwork. Working out of her home studio, she particularly enjoys creating landscapes, which especially resonates with people. Noting that she does not try to copy nature, but instead create it, it is her hope that her art forms dialogue with viewers.

Ms. Suttenfield's artwork has been exhibited in regional, national, and European group and one-person venues, which have included the Aqueous Open, The Johns Hopkins University, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, The National Arts Club, and Shades of Pastel for the Maryland Pastel Society. During a 1996 one-person exhibit in her main gallery, Mary Bell in Chicago, a representative from the Arts in Embassies program of the U.S. Department of State asked for her work to represent the U.S. in embassies abroad. Every several years since that time, the State Department selects one or two of her paintings. Some of her affiliated galleries also include the Callen McJunkin Gallery in Charleston, WV, and AIAA in Shepherdstown, WV.

Adding to her creativity, Ms. Suttenfield published three books of pen and ink drawings of regional architecture. In 1981, her pen and ink drawings were published in "The C and O Canal: An Illustrated History." She also served as a co-founder of Boarman Arts Center (now the Arts Centre) in Martinsburg, WV, in 1984, and as co-founder of a co-op gallery, The German Street Gallery in Shepherdstown in 1973.

A former member of the Maryland Pastel Society and the Baltimore Watercolor Society, Ms. Suttenfield's paintings have won national awards and were also selected for traveling exhibitions. Named Woman of the Year in Art by the West Virginia Women's Commission in 1985, she was also named Artist of the Year by the Women's Garden Council Club that same year. In 1994, she was included in a documentary in a West Virginia public television show about artists.

More recently, Ms. Suttenfield was a 40-Year Retrospective Grantee by the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagertown, MD, in 2015. She has been highlighted in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who of American Women.

Born in D.C., Ms. Suttenfield lived in Europe for many years as well as in several other states across the U.S. before settling down in Shepherdstown in 1962. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art since 1972, and when she isn't busy painting, she loves to travel, read, and walk. In 2013, Ms. Suttenfield painted and donated 26 oil and acrylic landscapes to the Hospice of the Panhandle in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Diana Suttenfield has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
