Ms. Spina has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the arts and entertainment industry

NEW YORK, NY, November 07, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Peggy Spina with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Spina celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A dancer, choreographer, and educator for nearly 70 years, Ms. Spina lives and works in New York City, and has been the founder and artistic director of Peggy Spina Tap Company since 1979. She has created more than 100 dances for her tap ensembles and has become very well-known on the east coast for her talent. Working alongside Joel Forrester, a pianist and composer, for more than two decades, many of her dances were created to align with his original pieces, which have also been performed live by Mr. Forrester and his quartet. Just prior to forming Peggy Spina Tap Company, Ms. Spina spent 24 years as a dance teacher at the New School of Social Research. She continues to teach dance at Marymount Manhattan College since 1999. She also teaches private and group classes at her studio in Soho, and the Peggy Spina Tap Company is planning a concert for March 2nd and 3rd, 2018.

Born in Long Beach, CA, Ms. Spina was destined to work in entertainment. She began studying and performing tap as a child, and once she reached high school, she had become the school's entertainment chairman. By the time she got to college, she was performing and choreographing modern dance in the dance department at UCLA. Acquiring a Bachelor of Science in 1962, she immediately moved to New York City, where she began a 20-year-spanning journey performing modern dance.

Going back to college to earn a Master's degree from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 1996, Ms. Spina was valedictorian of her graduating class. Over the course of her career, she has received numerous grants from the New York Council on the Arts, and was the recipient of a 1991 choreographer's fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. She was also the recipient of a 2008 Flo-Bert Award by the New York Committee to celebrate National Tap Dance Day, a lifetime achievement award that was presented to Ms. Spina at the Tap Extravaganza and included a performance by the Peggy Spina Tap Company. Lastly, she was highlighted in the 66th edition of Who's Who in America in 2012. For more information, visit www.peggyspinatap.com
