Dong Hee Suh, PhD Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Suh has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in art and art education



    GWANGJIN-GU, SEOUL, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, November 13, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Dong Hee Suh a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Suh celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Dr. Suh was a Fulbright International Scholar-in-Residence at West Virginia Wesleyan College from 1996 to 1997. She held various positions at Konkuk University in the Republic of Korea, including professor emeritus of ceramic art, professor, associate professor, instructor, and visiting instructor; she began her career at the university as a teaching assistant in 1971. She also served as a visiting instructor at various institutions, including the Greenwich House of Pottery in New York City, Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul, and Hanyang University in Seoul.

Since 2011, Dr. Suh has served as a conference lecturer at the Korea Society of Ceramic Art in Seoul. She held other various year-long positions, including adjunct professor of Korea Designer's Council in 2009 and juror at the Korean Overseas Service Group of the Korea International Cooperation Agency in 2007, the division of arts and crafts at the Korea Art Grand Exhibition in 2000, Yojou Ceramic Industry at Konkuk University in 2007, the Modern Ceramic Arts Award of Korea in 2008, and at Incheon 2005. Dr. Suh was also a resident artist at Hunter College City University, and she served as a visiting artist at over a dozen institution.

In 1991, Dr. Suh received a PhD in Art Education from the University of Missouri. In 1977, she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramic Art and Design from the University of Kansas. She also holds a Master in Fine Arts in Ceramic Art and Design and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in Applied Arts from Seoul National University. In addition, she received a certificate in computer graphics from New School in New York.

Since 2014, Dr. Suh has served as the president of the Artists Association Exhibition. She is also a member of the Korean Christian Artists Association, the National Council on Education of Ceramic Arts, the Korea Society for Design Science, Korea Designer's Council, the Korean Fine Arts Association, the Korea Society of Ceramic Art, and the Korean Contemporary Ceramic Artist Association.

Dr. Suh's works have been exhibited by the 45th Korean Christian Artists Association at the Chosun Art Museum, the Dong Suh Ceramics Art Gallery in Seoul, and the Artists Association Exhibition. She has also contributed chapters to books and has published her work in professional journals. Dr. Suh was an editorial committee member of Youngnak Presbyterian Church in Seoul in 2004. She has won numerous awards for her creative works, including commendations from the Korea Designer's Council in 1995, Columbia Art League in 1991, and Cite International des Art in 1982. She was also featured in the Korea Arts Grand Prize Exhibition 2001. She received a Fulbright Scholarship at West Virginia Wesleyan College from 1996 to 1997.

Dr. Suh was also awarded multiple grants, including those from Konkuk University, the British Cultural Center, the University of Missouri, and the Ministry of Education. In addition, she received a scholarship from the Israel Government in 1982, and she was a fellow of the American Association of University Women in 1975. Dr. Suh has been featured in Who's Who in the World, editions 27 to 29. Dr. Suh is the daughter of Ton-Kak Suh and Kyu Nam Lee. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and music.
