She was also a Junior Great Books Leader in the Longmeadow division. From 1998 to 2002, Ms., Katz volunteered as a reader for the Lower Pioneer Valley Collaborative.

A longtime member of the National Education Association, the National Trust Historical Preservation, the Trustees Reservations, and the Massachusetts Teachers Association, Ms. Katz was also a lifetime member of the Jewish Geriatric Services, Mizrachi, Amit and Hadassah. The recipient of a 1988 Horace Mann grant, she was honored in more than 35 editions of Who's Who since 2001, including in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World, and, most recently, in Who Was Who in America from 2013 to 2014, shortly after her passing on November 28, 2013.

Married to her loving husband Charles M. Katz for more than 55 years with two children, Helen L. and Robert A., Ms. Katz was also known for having owned her own photography business, Lynn Katz Photography.
