SEATTLE, WA, December 01, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fuqun Huang, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Primarily a computer software scientist, Dr. Huang has worked in a number of scientific endeavors, from aviation to nuclear industry, which led her to found the nonprofit organization Institute of Interdisciplinary Scientists in 2016. The organization aims to promote communication between scientists from diverse disciplines, foster innovation of interdisciplinary research, and to benefit humanity. One of the best examples of its work is the research into the cognitive origins of software faults, which is Dr. Huang's own area of expertise. "Software is by nature the representation of human thoughts, and it is often orders of magnitude less reliable than hardware," Dr. Huang writes for the Software Engineering & Psychology Interdisciplinary Program, and her research seeks to understand why and how software developers commit errors, in order to systematically predict, prevent, detect and mitigate software faults.

Dr. Huang earned a PhD on Reliability and Systems Engineering from Beihang University in 2013, and is currently an adjunct assistant professor with the university in Beijing, China. Beihang University has historically been a leading research university famous for its engineering programs such as Aerospace Engineering, Reliability and Systems Engineering, and Computer Science. In 2011, Dr. Huang served as a visiting researcher with Centre for Software Reliability, City University London, and she worked as a postdoctoral researcher with The Ohio State University from 2014 to 2016. Her varied experiences have led her to form the Institute of Interdisciplinary Scientists.

Dr. Huang is a recognized voice with the international scientific community, and has been a reviewer with many journals such as Reliability Engineering and System Safety, IEEE Transaction on Reliability, Journal of Software: Evolution and Process, and International Journal of Industrial and System Engineering. She has reviewed research proposals for U.S. Department of Energy. Dr. Huang was chosen for the program committee for the fifth, sixth and seventh IEEE International Workshops on Software Certification. Her current research project has to do with the reliability and safety assurance of software-based systems in mutiple safety-critical domains, such as aerospace systems, instrumentation and control systems of nuclear power plants, and energy systems.
