Yinghua Huang Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Achievements in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management

Dr. Huang is an assistant professor with the department of hospitality, tourism and event management at San Jose State University



    SAN JOSE, CA, December 07, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Yinghua Huang has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. After 10 years in the hospitality industry, Dr. Huang was accepted as an assistant professor with San Jose State University to teach with the department of hospitality, tourism and event management in 2013. She teaches hospitality marketing, revenue management, and introduction to hospitality, drawing on her early experiences with the Xiamen Tourism Group in China and the European Tourism Institute at the University of Trier in Germany. Dr. Huang is proud of having her byline in top-tier journals, and believes her success is in large part due to her high-quality research publications, cross-cultural education experience, and communication skills. Loving her opportunities to teach, Dr. Huang intends on becoming a full professor in the coming years, as well as a senior researcher in hospitality and tourism. A graduate of Xiamen University in China, Dr. Huang earned a BBA in Tourism and Hospitality Management, followed by an MS in 2006. As a student, she worked in tourism package design, advertising, ticketing, and visa application assistance with the Xiamen Tourism Group. In 2004, she joined the Xiamen office of European Tourism Institute for three years to work with consulting projects in market research, field surveys, and data analysis. She began teaching marketing courses in 2006 with Xiamen College of Science and Technology, and, in 2008, she visited the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as a research fellow.

In 2010, Dr. Huang worked with Taylor's Restaurant at Oklahoma State University in dining room management, table service, and back of house operations. She went on to the Atherton Hotel in the town of Stillwater, affiliated with Oklahoma State, to work on housekeeping, front desk service, and food service. She taught at the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State, offered instruction in martial arts, and represented the cultural connection program. Dr. Huang is a certified International Wushu Judge with the USAWKF.

In 2012, Dr. Huang earned a Ph.D. in Hotel and Restaurant Administration with a dissertation in mechanisms of tourism destination attachment, mentored by Dr. Hailin Qu. She worked briefly as a consultant assistant for hotel inspections with HVS before traveling to Northern California, and was welcomed by San Jose State University in 2013. Since then, she has worked in teaching, student advising, research, and other roles for the university. She holds a seat on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Marketing Channels and the Journal of Quality Assurance in Hospitality and Tourism, and serves as a reviewer for numerous other publications.

Dr. Huang is a member of the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International, the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals, the American Hotel and Lodging Association, and the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education. She has received contracts and research grants in the tens of thousands of dollars, notably a 2017 CSU HTMEA Campus Grant for Student-Industry Engagement from the Hospitality and Tourism Management Education Alliance at California State University. She received the 2017 faculty service award for tenure-track and was nominated for the 2013 to 2014 Student Organization Advisor of the Year at San Jose State University. She was recognized for her publications with numerous honors, notably an early Best Paper in Graduate Student Track award at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators in 2008.

Dr. Huang continues to work diligently in hospitality education. She is married, and a homeowner in the United States.
