Byoungjin Kim Celebrates Nearly 10 Years of Professional Excellence in Chemical Engineering

    JUNGNANG-GU, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, December 18, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Byoungjin Kim, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. A project manager in the planning team of LG Chemical in Daejeon, Republic of Korea, since 2017, Dr. Kim was previously a senior researcher for the Commercializations Promotion Agency for R&D Outcomes from 2015 to 2017. Prior to these positions, he held roles as senior manager of Samsung Biologics from 2013 to 2014, senior researcher of the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2013, and researcher for Hanmi Pharmaceutical from 2008 to 2009.

To prepare for his vocational roles, Dr. Kim first received a Bachelor of Science in 2002, and a Master of Science in 2004 in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Subsequently, he earned a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2008.

Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Kim has published numerous papers in relation to his areas of expertise, including such articles as "Simulation on Long-term Operation of an Anaerobic Bioreactor for Korean Food Wastes" in 2003, "Limited use of Centritech Lab II Centrifuge in perfusion culture of rCHO cells for the production of recombinant antibody" in 2008, and "High Cell Density Ethanol Fermentation in an Upflow Packed-Bed Cell Recycle Bioreactor" in 2008. In addition, he holds a patent for "Multi-stage CSTR bioreactor system equipped with cell recycle unit," which he developed in 2008.

A former military serviceman with a focus in professional research, Dr. Kim attributes his success to his hard work ethic and luck in the field. Determined to develop an innovative anticancer drug, his defining achievement was establishing the foundations for the Samsung Bio business. In his spare time, he enjoys baseball and car wrapping. Married to Kyungae Park with whom he has one child, Jihyun Kim, he foresees his future as the overseer of project management of LG Chemical.
