With nearly 15 years of professional experience in construction engineering and education, Dr. Yang has served as an adjunct professor with Pukyong National University Graduate School since 2013, having been a special researcher since 2005. He has worked with Pusan National University since 2010, first as a postdoctoral research fellow in 2010 and 2011, as a research professor in 2011, and as a special researcher since 2012. He is also a research director with Jung Ang Engineering Co. Ltd since 2012. Prior to his current roles, he was a team leader and chief researcher with Geoseong Architects & Engineering Co., Ltd from 2003 to 2009, and an engineer with Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction in 2002 and 2003. He has served as a visiting professor with Tongji University and Chongqing University, and as a visiting scholar with University of Maryland, City University of Hong Kong and Munich University of Applied Sciences. Also, He has served as a research advisory at the KIUSS of KAIST, and as a reviewer for the Journal of Construction Engineering & Management and International Journal of Civil Engineering.
Dr. Yang began his career at Pukyong National University, obtaining a BE in Construction Engineering in 2000. He went on to earn an MS in Construction Engineering and Management in 2002, and a PhD in the same in 2006. He is a member of the Korea Construction Value Engineering Institute. Throughout his career, he has obtained several patents for the structure of retaining walls using filler and support, and for apartment houses that are equipped to evacuate spare railing.
As an expert in his field, Dr. Yang has been recognized for his contributions to the field. Jung Ang Engineering Co. Ltd awarded him in 2014, and the Ministry of Land, infrastructure and Transport gave him the Grand Prize. He also received the Grand Prize from the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs in 2003, and he received an Achievement Award in Education from the Young-Nam Institute of Construction Technology.
