LONG BEACH, CA, December 29, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Linda S. Gunn with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Gunn celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Artist, illustrator, and author Ms. Gunn, granddaughter of the former Walt Disney employee George Drake who hired and trained new artists for the new Disney Studio long ago, has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember. As a child, she would visit some of her favorite artists at the Los Angeles Museum of Art and the Barnsdale Park Art Gallery in Los Angeles. When she was old enough, she began studying at Long Beach City College, taking drawing classes and studying watercolor under Mike Daniel in the early 1980s.

Today, Ms. Gunn illustrates books, paints under the influence of such famous illustrators as Howard Plye, NC Wyeth, and Norman Rockwell, and continues to study the works of several influential artists throughout history. While her paintings have been known to portray her personal life experiences, her illustrations have often been set in places she either had painted prior or visited in person. Some of her paintings have been installed at the UCLA Medical Center, the Out-Patient Clinic and Children's Emergency Room, and even in the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London. Ms. Gunn has also been featured in solo exhibitions at the Cornell Museum of Art and History in Florida, and has been included in "Best of Watercolor - Painting Color," "The Artistic Touch," and "The Art of Paper Making."

Ms. Gunn is a former painting instructor of nearly a decade at the Palos Verdes Art Center in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, was a painting instructor for the City of Long Beach Parks and Recreation for five years in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and was a program director for Women Painters West in Burbank, CA, for several years in the late 1990s. A founding member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters, and a member of the Long Beach Museum of Art, the Cornell Museum of Art and History, and the California Art Club, Ms. Gunn was also the founding director of the U.S. chapter of the National Acrylic Painters Association from 1995 to 2004.

Born in Long Beach, CA, where she still resides today, Ms. Gunn married Stephen Dennis Gunn in 1970, and has two children. Honored with a Best Landscape Overall in London in 2000, and an International Artists Magazine Award from the National Watercolor Society in 2004, she has also been highlighted in several editions of Who's Who of American Women.
