Holiday Season in Panama City: Everybody loves Veneto Wines!

The Vinum&Cibus Italici Consortium spread the passion for Veneto wines through an exclusive event

LUGANO, SWITZERLAND, December 29, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Panama City toasted to the Holidays with the best selection of wines from the northeast of Italy.

The Vinum&Cibus Italici Consortium, an association, which represents a group of small and medium wine companies located in the Veneto region, brought for the first time its wines to the Caribbean and chose the capital and largest city of the Republic of Panama for one prestigious event to enter the Central America market.

The wine tasting, which took place on December 14th at Restaurant Chalet Suizo, offered an incredible opportunity to buyers and restaurateurs to learn about Veneto wines and their peculiarities whose quality is deeply linked to long traditions and place of origin. Veneto's wine production offers the greatest variety of types among Italian wines, ranging through nearly every color, flavor and style imaginable.

The interest in Italian wines is growing in the Republic of Panama along with a general trend in the wine market which shows an increase up to 4% per year. In 2016 Central American countries imported $72 million worth of wine, 4% more than in 2015, and imports from Spain and the United States grew by 20% and 19%, respectively. Panama imported in 2016, $21 million worth of wine, 4% more than in the previous year, and 50% of it came from Chile and Spain, so expansion possibilities for Italian wine exports are very attractive.

The Vinum&Cibus Italici Consortium took the chance of this wine event in December to introduce fine Veneto wines to Panama buyers and restaurateurs. Republic of Panama's population is less than 4 million people and wine is not a traditional drink. Despite its small size, Panama is an interesting market for Italian wines for many reasons related to its rapid economic development, the growth of a middle class with a good purchasing power, the strategic position of the country in the Caribbean for which it has become an important commercial hub in the Central America area.

The Vinum&Cibus Italici Consortium represents a diverse group of small and medium wine Italian companies. Through membership of the Consortium, they have succeeded in transforming competition into an alliance that can be used to face global challenges, especially in new markets. Made in Italy, passion and entrepreneurship are the keywords of Vinum&Cibus Italici's mission.
