Leonard Notkin Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    LINCOLN, MA, January 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Leonard Notkin with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Notkin celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Mr. Notkin served as the president of Boston Design Associates, Incorporated from 1995 to 2004. For more than 30 years, he served the Architects Collaborative, Incorporated as an architect, principal, and vice president. Early in his career, he served as an architect at Resnick and Green Architects, Bloch and Hesse Architects and Percival Goodman Architect. He also provided his expertise around this time as a professional studio critic at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, as a member and chairman of the Lexington Design Advisory Committee and as chief design critic at the Boston Architectural Center.

Mr. Notkin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1954. He is licensed to practice as a registered architect by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards in the states of New York, Massachusetts, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Mr. Notkin's outstanding architectural designs can be seen around the world, some of which include the Lahey Clinic Medical Center (now known as the Lahey Clinic Foundation, Incorporated) in Burlington, MA, at the Children's Hospital in Kuwait, the St. Francis-St. George Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, the Visual Arts Instructional Facility at Purchase College of the State University of New York, at the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Connecticut Headquarters (now Anthem Insurance Companies, Incorporated), and the Temple University Hospital. Mr. Notkin served as the director of the Boston Society of Architects from 1976 to 1979, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Massachusetts State Association of Architects. In addition, Mr. Notkin is a United States Army veteran, having served from 1954 to 1956.

Mr. Notkin has received numerous awards for his outstanding contributions to his field and community. The Boston Society of Architects commended him with a Special Design Citation in 1993. He was also recognized with special honors by the Connecticut Society of Architects of the American Institute of Architects in 1974. He received multiple design awards for various projects, including his design for the National Institutes of Health Research Laboratory, awarded by the General Services Administration; his design for the Worcester Foundation Experimental Biology Building by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Institute of Architects; and for his design for the IBM Headquarters, awarded by Progressive Architecture Magazine. Other notable achievements include the Association for Better Community Design's Best Building of the Year Award for Norwalk High School and the American Institute of Architects First Place Award for the Worcester Community Center. In recognition of his professional excellence, Mr. Notkin has been featured in numerous editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the East. He has been married to Ann Mathilda Stefanko for more than 60 years. They have two children, Jennifer and Mead.
