A longtime human resources, utilities, and technology company executive and college instructor, Dr. Meehan worked for such organizations as Citicorp in New York City early in his career, the New York Power Authority for 22 years in various roles from 1976 to 1998, and for the electronics giant Philips Electronics North America for several years. He was also employed with ASML-US in Tempe, AZ, as director of compensation and benefits, and Compass HR Consulting as managing partner and founder. Since 2005, Dr. Meehan has been serving as the CEO of Chaparral Capital, LLC, and, since 2014, has also been serving as managing director of R.H. Meehan Associates, a human capital consulting practice, both located in Scottsdale, AZ.
During his tenure with New York Power Authority, Dr. Meehan earned such titles as director of compensation and human resources information systems, director of compensation and benefits strategy and development, and director of compensation and benefits. His experience greatly benefited him years later, and today maintains his own business doing what he does best, which consists of human capital consultancy work specializing in compensation and benefits.
Dr. Meehan is a WorldatWork Certified Compensation Professional and a Certified Benefits Professional. He was also certified as an investment fiduciary by the Center for Fiduciary Studies. He spent 20 years as an instructor at WorldatWork in Scottsdale, AZ, as well as several years as a course coordinator. He also taught as an adjunct associate professor at Lubin Graduate School of Business at Pace University from 1995 to 2001, was an adjunct professor of management at the Ken Blanchard College of Business at Grand Canyon University from 2009 to 2012, and, since 2009, has been an adjunct professor of business at Ottawa University. Furthermore, he has been known to host speaking engagements at various professional conferences in his area of expertise and has served on many committees and boards throughout his career.
Dr. Meehan was the senior author of "Managing a Direct Pay Program, Certified Course 4A" in 1991, and "Determining Compensation Costs: An Approach to Estimating and Analyzing Expense" in 1991, which was released again in 1996 and 2007. He has served as contributor to various books by other authors/editors and has also contributed numerous articles to various professional and academic journals.
Dr. Meehan is a founding board member, and current President of the Arizona Total Rewards Association and member and former board member of WorldatWork. He has also held memberships and served in various roles in the Society of Human Resource Management, the Human Resources Association of New York, the Academy of Management, and the New York Compensation Association. Dr. Meehan holds memberships in several honor societies, including Beta Gamma Sigma (AACSB universities), Psi Chi (APA), and Delta Mu Delta (ACBSP ).
Married to Ruth Ann Auletta with two sons and a granddaughter, Dr. Meehan spent several years with the Boy Scouts of America as a scoutmaster and scouting coordinator and is a former parishioner and senior warden at St. Martin's Episcopal Church. Currently, he enjoys playing golf in his free time. Dr. Meehan holds a Bachelor's degree from Montclair State University, a Master's degree, magna cum laude, from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a Doctor of Professional Studies from Pace University's Lubin School of Business. He also attended the Executive Global Leadership Program at the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University.
