Cornelis F. du Toit Recognized for Contributions to Electrical Engineering

Dr. du Toit was selected to receive the NASA Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal in 2016

    ELLICOTT CITY, MD, February 12, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cornelis F. du Toit, Ph.D., has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With nearly 30 years of professional experience in engineering, Dr. du Toit has served as a senior staff contract engineer with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration since 2004. A widely regarded voice in the scientific community, he has contributed numerous articles to professional journals, and holds multiple patents in his fields of expertise, including, "Tunable microwave devices with auto-adjusting matching circuit," "Solderless circularly polarized microwave antenna element" and "Phase shifters having a tunable dielectric layer and a resistive ink layer and method of manufacture therefore." Dr. du Toit is recognized as a senior member of the IEEE.

Dr. du Toit began his career at the University of Stellenbosch, where he received a Bachelor of Engineering in 1984, a Master of Engineering in 1986, and a PhD in engineering in 1992. While completing formal education, he served as a research assistant with the university. Dr. du Toit went on to work as an antenna engineer with Plessey Tellumat in South Africa in 1993, and as an antenna research engineering with Deltec Telesystems in New Zealand from 1994 to 1999 before relocating to the United States in 1999. From 1999 to 2004, he served as a senior antenna engineer with Paratek Microwave, Inc., in Maryland. Since 2004, he has been a senior staff contract engineer with NASA.

In recognition of his contributions to the field of electrical engineering, Dr. du Toit was selected to receive the NASA Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal in 2016. He previously received a NASA Group Achievement Award as a member of the MMS Navigator Team in 2016, and Excellence Award as an ISTD contractor in 2013 and 2008. His most recent achievements include receiving NASA group achievement awards as a member of the Dellingr 6U SmallSat Team and IceCube Radiometer Instrument Development Team. Since the inception of his career, Dr. du Toit has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and Who's Who in the World.
