Mr. Coleman is renowned in the legal industry for his service as a lawyer, educator, arbitrator and mediator. During the past 30 years, he has served as the head neutral for JAMS, and as the president and director of Conflict Analysis and Resolutions, Incorporated. He also served in education as an instructor at the University of Houston from 1979 to 1981. He has held a number of legal positions throughout his career, which include acting as counsel to Alliance Texas Life and Health Agents and as general counsel to both the United International Life Insurance Company and the Great Southwest Life Insurance Company. For more than 20 years, he also served as a partner at Ray & Coleman, Professional Corporation. He began his career as a law clerk with a number of different firms from 1970-1973.

Mr. Coleman began his academic career at Texarkana College, graduating with an associate degree in 1968. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin University in 1970, and continued his studies as a postgraduate student at Rice University from 1971 to 1973. In 1973, he graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. He completed additional coursework at the Attorney Mediators Institute in 1991, at the Judge Advocate General School with the United States Army in 1978, and at the American Arbitration Association Mediation School in 1991. He also went on to complete courses from the American Academy of Attorney Mediators in 1993, the Southern Methodist University Mediation School in 1992, and from the White Dispute Resolution Center in 1992. He was admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court in 1992, the 5th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals in 1975, the 11th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals in 1982, the United States Tax Court in 1987, the Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western United States District Courts of Texas, and in the State Bar of Texas in 1973.

Mr. Coleman is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, the Association of Attorney-Mediators, and is a lifetime fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation. He is also a longtime member of the Pro Bono College of The State Bar of Texas. He acted as a member of the American Bar Association, the Republication Presidential Task Force, the Republication National Lawyers Association, the Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Association of Mediators, the American Society of Law and Medicine, the American Legion and the American Judicature Society. In addition, Mr. Coleman also served as president-elect of the Republican Lawyers of Texas and, early in his career, acted as the founder of the Law Student Division and chairman of the Grievance Committee of the State Bar of Texas. He was also actively involved in the American Arbitration Association and the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association.

Mr. Coleman was recognized by Houston Magazine as one of Houston's Top Lawyers in 2017. He was also honored as the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award by the South Texas College of Law in 1973, as well as the E.E. Townes Award. In recognition of his professional success, he was also listed in Who's Who in American Education and numerous editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
