EVANSVILLE, IL, March 07, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Walter D. Wallis, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Wallis celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A native of Sydney, Australia, Dr. Wallis came to the United States in 1985 to begin what would become a very successful, tenured role at Southern Illinois University (SIU). Conducting mathematical research in discrete mathematics, graph theory, and experimental design throughout his years in academia, he has since become an emeritus professor at SIU. A professor whose expertise in the field of mathematics was irrefutable, Dr. Wallis formerly taught as a lecturer of mathematics at Latrobe University in Melbourne from 1967 to 1970, and as a senior lecturer and associate professor at the University of Newcastle from 1970 to 1985.

Dr. Wallis, who specialized in combinatorial designs, Latin squares, graph labeling, one-factorizations, and intelligent networks, was responsible for forming the Midwest Conference on Combinatorics Cryptography and Computing (MCCC). Formed at SIU as a result of his efforts in 1986, after several meetings on campus, the conference is now hosted at various institutions across the Midwest. He is also a founder of the Australasian Conference on Combinatorial Mathematics and Combinatorial Computing (originally called the Australian Conference on Combinatorial Mathematics), starting in 1972 and still being held approximately annually.

In addition to his work at the university, Dr. Wallis has authored approximately 20 books, including "Combinatorial Designs" in 1988, and "One-Factorizations" in 1997, co-authored several other books, and served as the editor for the "Journal of Combinatorial Mathematics and Combinatorial Computing."

A founding fellow of the Institute of Combinatorics and Its Applications, fellow of the Australian Mathematics Society, and longtime member of the American Mathematics Society, the Mathematics Association of America, and the Combinatorial Mathematics Society of Australasia, Dr. Wallis has been cited in Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the Midwest for his accomplishments. Married to Elizabeth Ann Kaiser on November 15th, 2003, he holds a BS and PhD from the University of Sydney.
