A former member of the artistic staff for professional musicals who also assisted with children's programming for NightBlue Performing Arts Company, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit based out of Chicago's Southside, Ms. Rinkenberger has long been involved in arts and entertainment, as well as education. She has worked as a performer, voice teacher, choral director/conductor, music educator, adjudicator, musical producer/director and music consultant throughout northern Illinois for her entire career, beginning shortly after completing her college studies. Completing a Bachelor of Music with Highest Honors at DePaul University in 1970, and an MS in music education, voice and choral methods at the University of Illinois in 1977, during which time Ms. Rinkenberger sang in the Graduate Chorale while supervising student teachers in vocal music education for the university, she later studied and became a member of the VoiceCare Network and participated in several additional courses at other universities.
Ms. Rinkenberger taught music and built music programs for every level of student, from pre-school through junior college level students and for adults. She has conducted several adult and teen church choirs, bell choirs, and intermediate, middle school, high school, junior college, adult community and festival choruses, and semi-pro and professional musical orchestras. Furthermore, she has produced and directed many musicals with all age groups and has worked as the music director for several professional shows. As a consultant in her field, Ms. Rinkenberger has participated in a number of ways, including by hosting creative workshops, doing event planning, presentation coaching and program building.
A former member of the National Association for Music Education, the American Choral Directors Association, and several honor sororities, Ms. Rinkenberger has lent a hand by serving on several boards and committees, adjudicating solo/ensemble and choral organization and speech contests and serving as a vocal coach. Highlighted in the 27th edition of Who's Who in America, she recently celebrated her 40-year anniversary with her husband Stephen L. Rinkenberger; they have two sons. Taking time out for herself, Ms. Rinkenberger loves to work in her garden, read, do yoga, and walk. She also loves to travel, having explored all 50 states and 7 continents.
