A retired academic administrator, Dr. Bataille most recently served as the president of the University of North Texas from 2006 to 2010. In 1994, she accepted the role of associate dean of academic personnel at Arizona State University, later becoming a provost at the University of California in Santa Barbara and a provost and academic vice president at Washington State University in Pullman. In 2000, Dr. Bataille became the senior vice president and vice president of academic affairs at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and then followed with service as the interim chancellor at North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem in 2005 and 2006.

Completing a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English at California Polytechnic State University, Dr. Bataille then began teaching at Iowa State University, where she remained for nearly 20 years before getting into administration. During this time, she also completed a Doctor of Arts at Drake University. Responsible for more than $15 million in grants during her tenure, she has also consulted in higher education both in the U.S. and abroad at such universities as the University of Albany, the University of Colorado, and the University of Missouri. She has been invited to speak on various topics at colleges in more than 20 different countries, and has served on various boards, including on the board of directors of the SAGE Publications since 2009. Dr. Bataille was a 2014 presidential consultant for the TIAA-CREF Higher Education Leadership Conference in New York City.

Now retired from administration, Dr. Bataille has been a consultant and the president of GMB Consulting Group LLC since 2013, where she provides advice and guidance to higher education leaders and nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and abroad that are seeking new approaches to leadership, organizational changes, and assessment. That same year, she also became a strategic partner of ROI Consulting Group and she is a senior academic advisor and consultant with Navitas USA., a global higher education company located in Australia.

A respected voice in the field, Dr. Bataille has written extensively, authoring numerous articles in peer reviewed journals as well as several books, including "Managing the Unthinkable" in 2014, "Presidents: Caught in the Middle" in 2013 and "Cool Head, Warm Heart" in 2012. Named one of The 25 Most Influential Women by the Dallas Business Journal in 2008 and one of The Great Women of Texas by Fort Worth Business Press in 2008, she was the recipient of a 2010 Otis L. Fowler Award by the Denton Chamber of Commerce and received several other recognitions, including being cited in nearly 30 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the West. and Who's Who of American Women.
