Dr. Virote Angkatavanich Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Angkatavanich is a professor emeritus of economics and finance who taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University for more than three decades.

Dr. Angkatavanich received unanimous votes from the faculty and the administrators granting him the rank of Professor Emeritus of Economics and Finance in 2000. He taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University for more than three decades. Beginning as an Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance in 1963, he was promoted to Associate Professor in 1968. He became a Full Professor in 1973 and remained in that role until his retirement in 1999. Dr. Angkatavanich served as Chair or Deputy Chair of the Department of Economics and Finance for a period of over fifteen years. Dr. Angkatavanich also served as Director of a unique SATURDAY MBA PROGRAM FOR BANK MANAGERS where bankers attended seven-hour classes on Saturdays for a five-week module. He has taught graduate courses in Economics, Finance, International Trade and Development, and organized internship program for undergraduate students with major financial institutions and is honored to have been able to possitively affect the lives of his students.

In Dr. Angkatavanich's career, he has organized close to 100 distinguished lecture series. He hosted chairmen of the boards/chief executives, senior managements/economists of major financial institutions as well as the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and various government agencies to speak on economics, finance and trade at the conferences. In fact, his lecture series were so well-received that he was invited by the New Jersey Banker's Association to co-sponsor and chair a lecture on: "The Pending Intrastate Banking Legislation: It's Impact on the State of New Jersey" in 1986. Each of our lecture series was held in an auditorium on the Teaneck Campus and was attend by an audience of between 120-320 persons.

Dr. Angkatavanich co-authored a book on "An Analysis of Solid Waste Processing Proposal for The Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission" in September 1973. The evaluation team consisted of five faculty members from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck Campus, and the Stevens Institute of Technology.

Dr. Angkatavanich received a BBA in International Business from the University of Washington in 1956, an MBA in Finance from New York University in 1957 and a Ph.D. in Economics from the New School University, N.Y.C. in 1967. Dr. Angkatavanich accrued several accolades, including the 2018 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2018-2019 Marquis Who's Who in America award as well as the 1957 Dr. Marcus Nadler's Money Marketeer Award from New York University. Looking toward the future, he intends to remain in his status as Professor Emeritus of Economics & Finance at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1932 to Dr. Thumtiang and Ob Angkatavanich, he came to the United States as a college student in 1953 and was naturalized as a United State Citizen in 2006. He was married to Prapasri Sisy Boonsirithum, M.A. (deceased on 8/19/1999). His second wife, Soros Posayanonth, B.A. (Law), lives in Bangkok, Thailand. He has three children with Prapasri Sisy: Dara Marcozzi, J.D., Effie Drossman, MBA, and Todd Angkatavanich, J.D., LL.M., and seven grand children: Christine Marcozzi, J.D., Stephanie Marcozzi, J.D., Anthony Marcozzi (III), B.A., Dylan Drossman, Ryan Drossman, Anna Angkatavanich and Owen Angkatavanich.

Family: Anthony Marcozzi, Jr., J.D. (Son-in-Law), David Drossman, J.D. (Son-in-Law), and Lauretta Lyons, M.L.S. (Daughter-in-Law).
