Arthur Sherwood Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Sherwood has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the legal industry

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 24, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Arthur Sherwood with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Sherwood celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 30 years of professional experience, Mr. Sherwood retired as a full-time attorney in 1999, having been a partner with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP since 1975. He started with the firm in 1968 as an associate, when the firm had fewer than 90 lawyers, and remained as it grew to now include more than 1,200 lawyers. He considers the highlight of his career to have been choosing the right law firm to work for early in his career. Mr. Sherwood also served as an Instructor in Law with the University of California, Los Angeles Law School from 1968 to 1969.

Initially intending to pursue a career in the sciences, Mr. Sherwood attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in physics, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, in 1964. He then studied at the University of Chicago, completing a Master of Science degree in physics in 1969. However, he found his talents were more suited to a career in law and was further inspired by attorneys in his family, including his father, uncle and cousin, to pursue the legal field. He joined Harvard Law School, where he earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1968.

An expert in litigation, particularly antitrust and securities litigation, Mr. Sherwood has been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Washington, DC Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California. He has served as an arbitrator with the National Futures Association and the New York Stock Exchange, and he has served as judge pro tempore for Los Angeles Municipal and Superior Courts. Mr. Sherwood has written articles in professional journals, and he is the co-author of "California Civil Procedure during Trial" and "Civil Procedure before Trial," and has been a participant in several legal education programs.

Attributing his success to his fellow attorneys and mentors at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Mr. Sherwood also credits his technical background in helping him to succeed. A leader in his community, he has served as Chair of the East Asian Art Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. A former NASA Fellow with the University of Chicago, he enjoys studying history, particularly early American financial history, art history, English literature, Latin American studies, and archaeology, traveling, and playing competitive bridge, for which he is recognized as an American Contract Bridge League Life Master.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Arthur Sherwood has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
