A leader in his fields of interest, Mr. Swyers recently shifted career paths to apply his expertise to the field of real estate as an agent with Excel Realtors in 2017. Prior to obtaining his current role, he was a database security engineer from 2015 to 2017, having been an independent consultant with Certified Medical Assistant Consulting Services from 2014 to 2015, with Aliado Accesso LLC from 2011 to 2013, and in the Northampton, MA, area from 2005 to 2011. From 1999 to 2005, he was an information engineer with Citigroup-Travelers Life and Annuity, having been a consultant in the Hartford, CT, area from 1994 to 1999. Earlier in his career, he served as a computer automated system engineering tool consultant with Aetna from 1987 to 1994, and as a database analyst with Xerox from 1980 to 1987.
Mr. Swyers began his career as a student at the State University of New York, Geneseo, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in management science in 1980. He later studied at the University of Hartford, earning a Master of Business Administration in corporate investment in 1991. He is certified as a computer professional by the Institute of Certified Computing Professionals. In 2017, Mr. Swyers shifted careers to better serve his family and community, obtaining a real estate license in the state of New York.
When Mr. Swyers began working in the information technology field, security was not a major factor for large companies. He began by helping companies store data, later teaching them database security as it became more of a concern with technology growth. He credits much of his success to having had great mentors, including Paul Theriauit at Aetna who helped guide him in choosing his future career path. In his free time, Mr. Swyers enjoys reading.
