Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Dr. Knowles spent 36 years with the DuPont Company in Delaware, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia. He continues to serve as a longtime associate with Dalmau Network since 1996 and formerly taught as an adjunct professor at Medaille College in Buffalo, NY. Locally, Dr. Knowles has been involved as a member of the advisory board at the Institute of Sustainable Enterprise at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is a longstanding member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Chemical Society, the Society of Chaos Theory in Psychology and Life Science, and DuVersity.

The author of "The Leadership Dance, Pathways of Extraordinary Effectiveness" in 2002, "Partnering for Safety and Business Excellence" in 2012 and "The Process Enneagram, Theory and Practice" in 2013, Dr. Knowles has also been featured in various works and has contributed many articles to scientific journals and chapters to books by other authors. He has been the recipient of an Eagle Scout Award, a DuPont Crystal Award and a Chemical Emergency Planning and Preparedness Partner Award by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1996, has been cited in dozens of editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World, and currently holds 40 patents in his field. Dr. Knowles holds a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Oberlin College and a Doctor of Philosophy in organic chemistry from the University of Rochester.
