Prior to this appointment, he held the position of senior researcher at Korea Standards Association from 2000 to 2010. From 1999 to 2000, he began his career as a researcher for the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements. Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Lee pursued an education at Seoul National University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in 2007.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Lee has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He has served on the Industry Standards Committee for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy with the Republic of Korea since 2001, as well as the Korea delegate for the Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization from 2001 to 2005. Previously, he completed military service in the Republic of Korea Army. Likewise, Dr. Lee found success with his written works, having authored 63 research papers, held 14 patents, and contributed articles to such esteemed publications as Transport Logistics Planning and the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics.
In addition to his primary trade, Dr. Lee remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has maintained involvement as a lifetime member of the Korean Society of Transportation. He was further active with the Korea Logistics Research Association, the Korea Logistics Society and the Society of Logistics Science and Technology. Dr. Lee was also a member of the Green Logistics Research Association, the Society of Packaging Science and Technology, and the Society of Korea Industrial and Systems Engineering.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Lee has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. He was presented with multiple honors from Yonsei University, including the Best Lecture Award in 2017, the Best Researcher Award in 2014, and the Best Distributive Research Award in 2013. Furthermore, Dr. Lee has received a Best Paper Award from the Green Logistics Research Association in 2013, Springer in 2012, and the Korea Logistics Society in 2011.
