With nearly 20 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Psomopoulos has worked as a professor with the department of electrical and electronics engineering at University of West Attica since 2018, researcher for the Earth Engineering Center at Columbia University since 2012, and vice chair for the Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council, Greece, member of the Global WTERT Council since 2012, and Visiting Professor in the Laboratory of Electric Arc and Thermal Plasmas Laboratory of electric arc and thermal plasmas at Blaise Pascal University since 2016. Previously, he held multiple positions at the Technological Education Institute of Pireaus, among which, as director of the Electrical Power Systems Division, director of the High Voltage Laboratory, Associate Professor from 2012 to 2016, and Professor from 2016 to 2018, Vice President of the Department of Electrical Engineering from 2014 to 2018, head of the Electrical Power Systems Division from 2008 to 2012, Assistant Professor from 2003 to 2012, and Visiting Assistant Professor from 2003 to 2007. During this time, he served as a manager of Research & Development of New Technologies and manager of Energy and Electromechanics Works for EPTA Environmental Engineers – Consultants from 2006 to 2007, and head of electrical maintenance and head of yard operations for new electrical projects for Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems from 2003 to 2006. Dr. Psomopoulos began his career as a freelancer consultant engineer in 1997 and then as a manager at the Athens Office for NRG Orion Ltd from 1999 to 2002.

Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Psomopoulos pursued an education at the National Technical University of Athens, earning a diploma in electrical and computers engineering in 1997. He concluded his studies at National Technical University of Athens in 2002, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in electrical and computers engineering. Following these accomplishments, he completed service with the Hellenic Army from 2002 to 2003. Dr. Psomopoulos would later earn certification as a solar photovoltaic installations auditor in 2013 and expert in the European Union directive in critical energy infrastructure protection in 2012.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Psomopoulos has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. Between 2013 and 2016, he contributed to Urban Railways in Athens, Greece, as a vice science director in the research project for energy efficiency. Likewise, he has held the role of director of Official Training Program for Energy Auditors with the Hellenic State at the Technological Education Institute of Pireaus since 2011. Dr. Psomopoulos found success with his written works as well, having contributed more than 130 articles, book chapters, and conference proceedings to esteemed publications in his industry.

In addition to his primary professional engagement, Dr. Psomopoulos remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. Since 2007, he has maintained involvement with EcoDesign legislation development in the European Union. Since 2017, he has maintained involvement with the experts' team for Climate Knowledge Innovation Centre in Malta. Furthermore, Dr. Psomopoulos is a member of the CIGRE International Council on Large Electric Systems, the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and the Fuse Club.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Psomopoulos has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. He has been presented with an award from Thomaidio Bequeaths from 1999 to 2002 and a Best Reviewer Award for Electric Power Systems Research from Elsevier in 2015. Dr. Psomopoulos was selected for inclusion in many editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.
